Password Strength Checker

I'm not sure if this has been asked already (I couldn't find it if it has) but is there a way for 1Password to check the strength of a password that I type to it instead of having it generate one for me? I sometimes would like to use a password I create so I can share it with people instead of it being random characters based on the selected recipe.

Hi @srz2,

You're right, I think we could improve the password strength meter and have it behave more dynamically in edit mode. At the moment though if you save an item the password strength does update. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We had a bug report from a while ago that seems applicable so I've reopened it and added your post to highlight how this isn't working. Sorry I can't think of a better solution over than repeated editing and saving at the moment.

Thanks for responding to this. I appreciate the fact that this will hopefully be resolved. To be clear, although it would be nice to be able for the strength meter to change during an edit, but I am more talking about in the password generation tab. Its nice for 1password to automatically generate a new password for you but the meter should update as you edit the generated password.

When I reopened the bug report I covered both places (edit and Password Generator), apologies for not making that clear. If we're going to fix it I would like to see it fixed in both at least for reasons of consistency :smile:
