I originally started using 1Password on iOS, (iPad & iPhone) and have liked it. When I tried to download and install on to my Mac I can not seem to link/find my iCloud info for the mac program. I am not 100% against paying something additional for the Mac version if that is whats needed but from the support material it doesn't seem like this may be required and may not fix the issue. Can some one help me out here? (i have the latest versions on my iPad and the latest 1Password 5 for Mac that I am trying to set up.

If you really want to use iCloud for syncing, you will indeed have to buy your Mac license from the Mac App Store. If you're willing to switch to Dropbox for a cloud solution, or WiFi or Folder Sync, you can but either place. The AgileBits web store page is explicit about this.

Your real security for your data rests with a strong master password, not which cloud solution you use. I know this is a personal choice with strong opinions, but I can assure you that Dropbox sync works really well for us, in our household.

Thanks..... What you are saying is what I was suspecting after reading through some of the posts/details related to the iCloud only working when the application was purchased/downloaded from the app store. The uncertainty I had was I did buy the iOS app from the app store so it wasn't clear to me with what I had come across if that was good enough or if I needed to make a second purchase from the App store for the Mac version on the computer.

To close the loop, the Mac and iOS apps are sold separately, so if you want to use both, you will need to buy both. Your iOS purchase doesn't cover a license for Mac.

    Hi @DMR2015,

Thanks so much for considering 1Password to keep your data secure across all your devices!

I hope that Hawkmoth's answers have been helpful here. 1Password is a separate purchase for each platform that you wish to use it on, and if iCloud sync is important to you, you'll want to be sure to purchase 1Password from the Mac App Store. If you've downloaded the 30-day trial directly from our website, you'll need to follow the instructions here: Migrate to the Mac App Store version to ensure that the transition between the webstore trial and the Mac App Store version goes smoothly.

If you're interested in picking up 1Password 5 for Mac, now is a great time to do so, as it is currently 30% off! The sale is only here for a short time, so snag your license soon to take advantage of this offer.

Please let us know if you have any further questions - we're happy to help. :)
