registering my licence with 1password4

Hello,

I have a licence key for 1password3 that is eligible for 1password4 (right ?).
My problem is that 1password4 is asking me for a file (license file ?) and I do not know
how to generate this file from my licence key.
The email address I used when I bought my license is no more valid.

What should I do to get my license to work with 1password4.

    The upgrade from version 3 to version 4 was a paid upgrade. If you paid for it, you would have received email with information about how to install that license file. If you go to the AgileBits web store and click on the upgrade button for version 5, you will get your upgrade price after you supply your current license information.

    Don't worry that it's version 5. The same license file works for both version 4 and version 5, and the path from 4 to 5 is free. In fact, if you are running Yosemite, there isn't any reason to install version 4 at all. Just skip it and install version 5.

    If you already paid for the upgrade from 3 to 4, and you've lost that email, you can have it resent if you go to the support page and enter the email address you used to buy the license there.

    The information from hawkmoth is all spot-on, I hope it was helpful for you! If you have your license code for 1Password 3, you can use that to purchase the upgrade to a license for 1Password 4/5, and you'll be able to enter your current email address when you do that.
