Getting this error code after upgrade

I just upgraded to 1password 5. Didn't go very smooth, but I think I figured it out. I am a long time user.
But now when I click on the desk top icon, I get the language below in an error window. I looked everywhere I can think of, and can not find a duplicate copy. It allows me to get past the window to get into 1password. So basically just an annoyance

The system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini.

Instead of '/Applications/1Password 5.app/Contents/LoginItems' it started '~/1Password 5.app/Contents/Library/LoginItems'.

Please make sure you have only one copy of 1Password on your Mac.

1PW should be in the Applications folder. Is it? The error message indicates that there is a copy also in your Home folder. Can you see it there?

If you do have two copies, trash the one in your Home folder, empty trash, and reboot. Do not use any third-party application remover, as they may delete your passwords as well as the program.

This is apparently an issue with Yosemite, which seems to be overly aggressive in searching out the helper. You really can't have more than one copy of 1Password attached to your system. I've removed the application from my Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner backups for this reason, and I've set those up to ignore it for future backups.

It isn't much of a problem not to have backup copines of the app. Si ce you can't download a new one at will, should you ever need to reinstall it.

    Hi @pappymn,

Hopefully you've found both of these posts useful for sorting out the error message you're seeing.

danco is correct, you've got a duplicate copy of the 1Password application in the root of your home folder, that's what the ~/ translates to. I've had some very long talks and probably annoyed one of our devs a great deal as I learnt why it was doing this. I won't bore you with the details except to say we're genuinely unable to tell OS X that when it is to launch 1Password mini we mean the 1Password mini at path x. Sadly it means if multiple copies of 1Password mini are present OS X can (and often will) launch the wrong one which we don't want happening.

If you're still having troubles please do let us know
