Can't restore after OS X update

I mistakenly updated to Mavericks without backing up recently (I know, I know, stupid thing to do), and my OX got completely messed up. Had to do a clean wipe and re-download the OS. I could not backup my 1Password keychain to Dropbox, as the system was too messed up and I could not access 1PW preferences. So the Mac repair guy just copied all the 1 PW data to a folder from which I could restore. However, after downloading 1PW again, I can't get into my vault with my old password. I selected the folder from which I wanted to restore the keychain, and when asked for the password, put it in numerous times, but never successfully. What is the problem?

    Hi @Mirpurlady,

Can you answer a couple of questions please, just so we can gain a better idea of what you're dealing with.

    1. What version of 1Password for Mac are you using? If you upgraded to Mavericks there's a distinct chance you're talking about 1Password 3 which is quite different from the newer versions. I just want to make sure we're giving accurate advice for the right version.
    2. What did you restore? This kind of relates to question 1. as the different versions could mean you've restored something different in each case. The backups are different between 1Password 3 and 1Password 4/5 but even just knowing if it was a backup you restored might prove useful to know.

If it was a backup and it was maybe from a while ago, have you changed your Master Password at all? It might be worth trying older ones if you can remember them. At the moment, I can only supply very general suggestions of which one is My Master Password is not being accepted. What should I do?

We'll certainly do our best to assist so do please post back with your responses.
