WiFi sync with same Mac works differently with iPhone & iPad both running 1Password 5.2.1

I have an iMac running 1Password 5.1 (Agile Store) and an iPad & iPhone running iOS 8.1.3 and 1Password 5.2.1. All full/pro versions.

1Password on the iMac is setup to run a Wi-Fi Server and both idevices are setup to use that — actually let me clarify that, the iPhone is 'setup' in the sense that has saved the wi-fi setup above, the iPad not, and it seems the iPad cannot be setup to work in the same way as the iPhone because the menus are different — even though they are running the same versions of everything.

On the iPhone if I go Settings > Sync I see a screen which has listed:

Primary Vault
--- Sync Service ..... Wi-Fi >
--- Sync Now

On the iPad if I go Settings > Sync I see:

Primary Vault
--- Start Syncing >

It's not the same as the iPhone?!? Then If I go the next menu level down on the iPad I see:

Sync with iCloud (I never will do btw)
Sync with Dropbox (I never will do btw)
Sync using Wi-Fi

If I choose 'Sync using Wi-Fi' it goes through the discover process and finds my iMac with the Secret etc. and I have to manually sync.

So question: Why do the same versions of 1Password on iPhone & iPad work differently. Obviously I prefer the method on the iPhone as it is setup ready to go.

Which brings me to another point — once Wi-Fi syncing is setup, under Settings, I don't believe you should have to go into 'Settings' again to sync, seems really redundant and back-to-front. If you have setup your preferred syncing method you should have a button that says 'Sync' and boom your done. Especially if the Mac machine is ready and waiting.

    Hi @FromOZ,

Sorry to hear your iPad is not behaving as expected. We should be able to get this sorted for you.

It sounds as though there may be a problem with the preferences on your iPad. Please make sure you have all of the latest data synced to your Mac then uninstall and reinstall the 1Password for iOS app on the iPad.

A great point, I think. I'm not sure the current UI would support such a thing, but I'll definitely pass the feedback along to our developers for their consideration for the future.

    Hi @bwoodruff

Thanks, that sorted it. I've had the iPad for a while and it has had a number of upgrades of 1Password iOS, the iPhone was new. Pleased they both work better now.

Looking forward to the 'Sync' button ;)
