Importing data from Splash ID

Hi,

I am trying to import my data from SpalshID (V7.1.1) to a 30 day trail version of 1Password for Mac. Everything works just fine except no data in imported as a result of this transaction. Is this a limitation of the trail version?

I don't think the trial version is the issue - the trial runs for 30 days without limitations.

You can explain what you mean by "everything works just fine"? It seems that since no data was imported, I'd say nothing worked fine! :-)

A couple of possibilities come to mind:

Perhaps you can test one theory - open the Console utility, select the All Message item in the left column, and then try the import the .VID file. If you see a new log message from 1Password that complains about problems opening the file for UTF-8, like:

then you'll want to convert the exported SplashID .vid file to UTF-8 and retry the import with the converted file. Right-click the .vld file, open with TextEdit, select File > Duplicate, and then File > Save ... and select Unicode (UTF-8) as the format. Now try to import that file (the duplicate, not the original).

If that does not work, you may need to update SplashID to a more recent version - I know there were some bugs fixed with VID exports.

If you have many different SplashID categories, you might want to try a converter.
