Firefox Extension Not Working On Mac

Hi all -- help please...

I'm using an Apple Mac with OSX 10.10 and have latest version of 1Password. I've installed the Firefox browser extension...

I'm not seeing the 1Password option when I right click the mouse on a password field... I'd like to use the password generator. It works great for Safari - any ideas ?

    Hi @djp15,

Other than the contextual menu option is the extension working? It might be worth trying a reboot to see if it makes any difference.

    Please do keep us informed.

I think the extension works apart from the contextual menu ... if I select a website and then click the mini app on the bar at top screen, the website is recognised and when I click the item in the mini app, it fills the login fields ok.

    I'm using Firefox 31.5.3 ESR

Any idea how to get the contextual menu working ?

    Hi @djp15,

We might need a little information about your setup it seems. You've supplied the version of Firefox that you're running but can we ask what version of 1Password and the 1Password browser extension you're running please.

I've just tried the stable version of 1Password for Mac v5.1 with the stable version of the extension 4.3 in Firefox 36.0.4 and I have the contextual menu option as I also did if I tried the betas (v5.3 and 4.4 accordingly).

It could be worth trying to uninstall, close down and then re-install the extension, see if that makes a difference. That's only if you're running 1Password 4/5 though, things are very different if it turns out you're running 1Password 3.

Hi - So I am a new 1Password customer ... so using the latest v5.1 from the Mac AppStore. I am installing the browser extension from 1Password - which takes me to the web page and after install, shows v4.3.0 in the Firefox addons. I have changed the automatic updates to ON.

My Macbook Pro is a 15" Retina - early 2013 model running latest version of OSX 10.10.2 with all fixes.

I have uninstalled the extension many times and rebooted -- I just get the same issue :-((

    Hi @djp15,

Thanks for getting back to us with those version details. I've done some testing here, and I'm seeing the same thing you are. The Firefox ESR is not displaying that 1Password item in the contextual menu consistently. The good news is that you will see the 1Password item if you click outside of the input fields. This is something that has been fixed in more recent versions of Firefox, so this little quirk only applies in the ESR version.

I've reported this to our development team. I can't provide any information on when the team will be able to look at this, so for the time being it's best to get into the habit of clicking outside of the input field so that you can access the 1Password menu item.

I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you here, but I hope this helps!

    Hi

Thank you so much for looking at my issue ... the product works perfectly apart from the contextual menu .. so now at least I know its not me using the product wrongly ;-) If you need a fix testing, please let me know.

    Hi @djp15,

It's always nice to be able to tell people that they're doing nothing wrong! ;) So, apologies for this bit of wonkiness.

We'll let you know if we need an assist testing a fix.
