First day... idiot questions
HI people
So: downloaded 1P from the website and then realised that if I want to sync w iCloud (Which I do - I think?) I should have paid for it and went ahead and downloaded it from the Mac Store - so went ahead and did that... and now wondering what to do w iPhone and iPad - do I have to buy it again from the App Store for each one? If not, how does it know that I don't need to?
and
It seems not to be syncing with iCloud - I'm getting error messages. Is this intrinsic to 1Password 5.0 and Yosemite or am I just doing something stupid and/or stupidly failing to do something obvious?
thanks, all
E

OK, so idiot question part 2: I keep typing in my main password. The key turns. The doors open... and shut again in about 2 seconds, locking me out again... is this working as intended? In which case, why? If not, what do I do/have I done to break it?

Let me address your license question first. You apparently have purchased the Mac version from the Mac App Store already. So far, so good.
But the license for the iOS version is sold separately from the desktop version, from the iTunes App Store. But the good news is that it's free to download and use in its basic form on all your iOS devices. If you find you want the more advanced Pro features for the iOS version, that does require an in-app purchase, separate from your desktop version. But that one purchase will service all your iOS devices, as long as all use the same Apple ID.
Locking after 2 seconds sounds pretty strange to me, though. But if you go to the 1Password 5 menu item on your Mac and select Preferences, then select Security, you'll find several options that are intended to control the interval before it closes. I hope you can get there before it closes, though! Post back about that, and tell us your experience.

Thank you!
So - I had set the control interval to 10 minutes... but at some point, had managed to have 2 versions open simultaneously, which evidently causes a crash. So that's stopped...
I gather iCloud Drive is the answer to iCloud backups - am waiting to see if it works on all devices. Not entirely convinced I'm doing it right, given that it entirely failed to log in to the AgileBits forum and had to re-save... but we'll see how we go.
many thanks for being there

If you still have the version from The AgileBits web store (it'll be in your Applications folder and named 1Password 5.app), and you plan to use the one from the Mac App Store (named 1Password.app), AND if you haven't added much data yet, you should drag the vesion from the AgileBits web store to the trash and empy the trash. You'll avoid conflict like you have experienced already, as well as some others you haven't, if you have just one installation on your system.
If you have lots of data in both versions, and those data sets are different, and you don't want to have to start over, let us know. But given this is day one for you, I don't anticipate that will be the case.

Thank you - was, in fact, using the wrong one... Lost Facebook, twitter and a credit card, but as you say, it's early days and far rather get this right now... am enjoying the exploring and very grateful for the help. Thank you.
