Wifi sync iOS and Windows
Hello I have a problem.. after about a month now since I started using 1P I decided to finaly sync my windows and iphone because some passwords have been added to bouth "devices" and I needed them to sync. I opened 1P on windows and Iphone but they are not syncing. It seams that they do not see each other on the network. What could be the problem? I have the latest version on bouth windows and iphone. Thanks

Hi @darkutz,
There are a couple of possibilities. Wi-Fi Sync uses Bonjour so that would need to be installed on your Windows machine. I believe you can't even try to Wi-Fi Sync though unless it is so that may not be the reason. Firewalls can interfere with Bonjour and sometimes you do need to reboot both the machine and the iOS device to reinitialise Bonjour if something has gotten stuck. This page on Configure Windows firewall or proxy server may be applicable to your situation.
Please let us know if any of those help at all. If they don't we'll continue the troubleshooting process.

Hi thank you for the reply.. Windows and iphone have bouth been restarted many times.. also let me add that this is not the first time I sync bouth of them.. when I first installed 1P it worked just fine so firewall and bonjour shouldnt be the problem. The only thing that has been changed since my last sync that worked is the network.. but I do not see any valid reason why that would be a problem.

Hi @darkutz,
When you say the network has changed what do you mean, is it a new router for example? Certainly the router can be an issue, sometimes rebooting it has helped and some users have found that they went from nothing but problematic Wi-Fi Syncing to trouble-free syncing with a new one. I'm certainly not suggesting you should go out and purchase a new one, but merely that the router can be a factor.
One way to check of the router is part of the issue is to set up an ad hoc network between your iOS device and your Windows machine if that is possible. If that works it would mean it could be network related. This page on Set up a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network may be of use in this.
Please do let us know your findings.

I meant that I moved to another place and have another router here.. Ill try with an adhoc network and see if it works and get back to you.. thank you I had no idea the router could be a problem.

Ok.. tryed adhoc connection and it worked perfectly. Thank you for your help.

@darkutz: Yes! I'm glad that worked for you. :+1:
Unfortunately, in my experience the router is usually the problem. And it's tricky because a lot of times some other traffic will flow normally (viewing webpages, for instance) so it can lull you into thinking that all is well...when in fact a router restart will clear it up immediately. Crazy!
An ad-hoc connection is great for both troubleshooting and also security (if you are away from a trusted network and want to sync via Wi-Fi). Cheers! :chuffed:
