Incorrect Items in Categories on iOS Apps
On the Windows desktop, I've moved a number of records that used to be in a Login category to a new folder I called WiFi Hotspots. They no longer show up in the Login category. All's fine on the PC.
However, the iOS apps (iPhone and iPad) still have the records showing in both the Login category and the WiFi Hotspots folder. I've verified that the tag is not the name of the category (it's Hotspots in case that matters). I'd like the behaviour to be consistent between the PC application and the iOS apps.
Thanks

Hi @FuriousFan,
I'm having a little trouble replicating a particular aspect of your post but it's not the bit you might think. The categories are independent of folders and tags and my understanding is the full list of each category type should always be visible if you view the categories. Certainly this is how it works on OS X and iOS.
So I'm not sure how you managed to have your records not show up in the Login category. I tried moving four random Login items to a folder in 1Password for Windows (I used drag and drop) but for me it behaved like our other platforms, they remained visible in both the Login view and the folder. I'd love to be able to replicate your findings so anything you can say or describe about how you managed this would be great. Thank you!

Hmm, I kind of suspected that the records had to live in a category and was wondering how that happened myself. I think what I did was create a new record of the Generic Account type. I then replicated the info from the record in the Login category and once that was done, I deleted the record in the Login category. That left me with just the record in the WiFi Hotspots folder and nowhere else on the PC app. I've verified this by searching for a record in the All folder and only one comes up and it's the one in the folder.
Thanks

The iOS app doesn't have the category Generic Account. If you create a Generic Account item in 1Password for Windows, it will show up as a Login in the iOS app.
My question is, why not use the category Wireless Routers? It seems fitting for WiFi hotspots.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I could certainly do that. I'm still trying to figure out which categories to use for what types of records.

Hi @FuriousFan,
Finding what works for you does take time, I think we've all created items, recreated and so on while we find our system.
For Wi-Fi Spots, if it's logging into a public one then the Login item is probably the best as you should be able to use the browser extension to fill it in.
Now I'm not a big Windows user, I'm more a Mac person so I'm curious as to this Generic Account. Excuse the following screenshot, it's taken from a VM running on my Mac. This is what I see so I'm curious how you created a Generic Account item
That screenshot was taken from 1Password 4.3 for Windows in case our versions differ.

I can't save a screen shot of the menu process because as soon as I hit PrtScn, the menu disappears. You get to it from New Item - Account - Generic Account. The actual template looks like this.

Since switching to opvault, the Generic Account is now gone.

Correct; the opvault format does not have a Generic Account template.

It's all good. I just had to manually switch the account types from Login to Server as that made more sense for most of the entries I had in the Generic Account template. Is there a way to do a mass conversion and field mapping of one type to another type? Thanks

Unfortunately there is no mass conversion tool available, but I'm glad to hear switching them from login to server templates helped.
