trial expired
Have been using since auto renew last nov. for first time today, cannot use full feature, trial expired shows. tried options listed on forum but nothing worked. when tried adding license the keychain icon cannot open. all works fine on iPad so my guess is something with safari? Also tried shutting down and restart, nothing, closed Safari and just tried opening 1 Password. can log in but cannot edit? Help?

I transferred 1Password to a new computer and just got a message that my trial(?) expired - does that mean I have to pay for it again?"

Let us know what version of 1Password you are running. Your can find that out by going to the 1Password menu on your Mac and clicking on the About 1Password option at the top of the list. Is it the same on the new computer as it was on the old one? Where did you purchase it? From the AgileBits web store or from Apple at the Mac App Store. That About screen will give you all of that information.
You won't have to pay for another license to the version you had before your move, but it that move involved an upgrade from version 3, you might have to pay for the upgrade. If you had version 4 or 5, you won't have to pay again.
My best guess is that you haven't reinstalled the license when you made your move. That would apply if you bought your license from AgileBits. You wold have received an email message with information about how to add the license, either by entering an alphanumeric key in version 3 or by adding a license file for version 4 or 5. The latter versions use the same license file; there was no charge to move from 4 to 5.
If you can't find that email message, you can retrieve it again by going to the Support Page and entering the email address you used to buy your license.
If you bought your license from the Mac App Store, there isn't a license to install. Licensing is tied to the Apple ID used to make the purchase. It seems unlikely that this applies to your case, however. But if it does, post back for additional help.

Using Vers 5.1 bought from AgileBits web store. This had nothing to do with a move to a new computer. I have been using on current desktop all along. It was renewed last Nov. I used it within the last week with no issues, this just happened today when i tried to edit an item. First time I saw the 'trial expired' window. Can login and edit or revile password on iPad with no problem. Thanks

OK, apparently I have version 3 on the old computer and am running the new (5) version on the new computer on a trial basis. So I've got to upgrade.

Hi @lkoltys,
Thanks for posting your question. We'll be happy to help you get out of trial mode.
all works fine on iPad so my guess is something with safari?
First I'd like to clarify that our software is licensed per platform, so the iOS app is free with an optional in-app purchase of Pro Features, but the Mac license is a completely separate purchase.
It was renewed last Nov.
I'm guessing you mean that you downloaded 1Password 5 from our Free Downloads page. This will allow you to run it in trial mode without any limitations for 30 days. After 30 days, the app will run in restricted mode until you add a 1Password 5 license, which you can buy from our Agile webstore.
I looked up the purchase records for the email address associated with your forum username, and I see one purchase from 2011, but no record of a 1Password 5 for Mac license purchase. This could mean one of three things: either you bought 1Password 5 from the Mac App Store, or you used a different email address when buying the license from our store, or you haven't yet purchased 1Password 5. I think the latter might be the case.
As a previous license holder, you're eligible for a great upgrade discount from our store. You just need to enter your existing license key on the upgrade page. I've resent your licenses to your email from our back office for easy access.
Please note, if iCloud Sync is important to you, you'll need to buy 1Password 5 from the Mac App Store, for which we unfortunately cannot offer an upgrade discount because those transactions are handled by Apple.
I know this is a lot of info at once, but I'm hoping it gets you on the right track. Let us know if we can clarify, or if this raises a whole host of other questions. :)

Hi @civich,
Looks like @hawkmoth has pointed you in the right direction. Just keep in mind that the webstore version will serve you well with Dropbox or Wi-Fi sync, but if you want to use iCloud to sync, you'll want to buy the version of 1Password sold in the Mac App Store, which will be full price.
Let us know if you have any more questions, and enjoy your new upgrade!

on 10/26 I received the following email. "Your subscription will automatically renew itself on November 10, 2014." As I previously mentioned, it has been working fine as of a day or two ago (unrestricted) so this well after the "30 day trial" so something else must be amiss?? I will look back to my charge records.

@lkoltys - I'm not sure what email message you refer to, but 1Password has never been sold on a subscription basis. You pay one time for a license on a per platform basis, and it's yours to keep and use as long as you like and as long as an OS update doesn't break it. To upgrade from version 3 to version 4 required an upgrade payment, but again, not a subscription.
Perhaps someone from AgileBits will recognize that sentence. Or you might let us know what else that email said. The email messages related to licensing go to paid licensees and contain instructions for applying the license. They don't have any reference to a subscription for the software.

Sorry-Auto renewal was not 1 password (you are correct-my error) however, I have been using vers 5 unrestricted (I am assuming since I was able to add and edit passwords) within the last week. so something else must have happened-I will check my records for upgrade charges and try to find out where/when

Ok-I can't find any purch records please help me understand my options. upgrade 1 pass mac + windows ($34.99) so that means if I have a windows computer as well it will work and sync with my mac? and is that vers 5? or 1 pass 5 mac (24.99) only use on mac. or if I want to sync on iCloud I purch from App Store? So doI understand correctly, if I want to also use on iPhone or iPad and want to sync with desktop I must buy from app store? wish you had phone sales/support thanks for your help

No. As long as you are willing to use Dropbox sync or wifi sync, you can buy the version direct from Agile, it will sync fine with the iOS version. The only advantage of buying from the Mac App Store is that you can then use iCloud sync between Mac and iOS devices.

Hi @lkoltys,
Sorry for any confusion about all this! Let's see if I can help clear it up for you:
I have been using vers 5 unrestricted (I am assuming since I was able to add and edit passwords) within the last week.
As Vee mentioned earlier, it sounds like you downloaded 1Password 5 for Mac from our download site and are using it in its free trial mode. You can run it in trial mode without any limitations for 30 days. Once the trial expires, you won't be able to add more than 20 total items to 1Password. So, if you created less than 20 items during the trial mode, you can add more items once the trial expires, until you reach 20. You can still edit all your items once the trial expires. Once you purchase a license for 1Password 5 for Mac, you can add your license file to 1Password to fully activate it.
I can't find any purch records please help me understand my options. upgrade 1 pass mac + windows ($34.99)
You purchased a bundle license for the Mac and Windows versions of 1Password back in 2011. Specifically, that license is for 1Password 3 for Mac and 1Password 1 for Windows. If you choose to upgrade to the new Mac & Windows bundle license, you'll have licenses for 1Password 5 for Mac and 1Password 4 for Windows (those are currently the latest versions of each).
so that means if I have a windows computer as well it will work and sync with my mac?
Yes, if you have the Mac and Windows versions of 1Password, you can sync them via Dropbox sync.
and is that vers 5?
The latest version of 1Password for Mac is version 5. The latest version of 1Password for Windows is version 4.
or 1 pass 5 mac (24.99) only use on mac.
That's correct - if you don't need 1Password 4 for Windows, you don't need to purchase the bundle. You can simply choose to upgrade to a 1Password 5 for Mac license. Upgrading won't replace your previous licenses, so your licenses for 1Password 3 for Mac and 1Password 1 for Windows will still be valid.
or if I want to sync on iCloud I purch from App Store?
That's correct, the iCloud sync option is only available in the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac. So if you want to use iCloud sync, you'll need to purchase 1Password from the Mac App Store at the full price shown there (Apple does not give us the ability to do upgrade pricing on the Mac App Store). If you also want a license for 1Password 4 for Windows, you can buy that from our upgrade site. Please note that iCloud sync isn't available in the Windows version of 1Password. If you need to sync 1Password data between Mac and Windows, you can use Dropbox sync.
So doI understand correctly, if I want to also use on iPhone or iPad and want to sync with desktop I must buy from app store?
1Password is licensed per platform, so the Mac and iOS versions of 1Password are sold separately. However, 1Password 5 for iOS is a free download, and offers free basic features. If you would like to unlock the Pro Features in 1Password 5 for iOS, you can do so with an in-app purchase. You would only need to purchase the Pro Features once and can unlock them in 1Password 5 on all your iOS 8 devices associated with your Apple ID.
I hope that helps! Please let us know if you have more questions about that.
