.pif import of msecure records places all data in category Secure Notes

I have strictly followed the instructions for the script provided my MrC, successfully created the export ,csv file out of msecure and converted it into the .pif file. During the conversion I receive a message for every record regarding a remapping of card type e.g. "Renamed card type 'License Key' is not a default type, and is being mapped to Secure Notes". As a consequence all (200+) records are placed into Secure Notes in 1Password during the import. Is there any way to get the data allocated to the correct target categories and fields or do I have to manually enter all data? Thanks a lot for any suggestion / help. Kind regards.

    Hi @Bear1967,

If you've customized your record types, the converter does not know about those new names, the meaning of the fields (columns in the CSV), and so must map these records to Secure Notes.

However, we can customize the converter to work with your customized type names.

There are two types of customizations you might have done: 1) changed the name of the Type, and 2) changed the order and/or number of fields in a default record type. The converter uses the default Type name, and the default number or columns for that type, in order to determine the meaning of the data.

Do you have a good feeling for changes you've made to the default types?

You mention License Key above - What exactly is a License Key, what fields does it contain, and to what Category should it be mapped in 1Password? I'm guessing it might be a software license.

Additional entries can be added to the Msecure converter table to help map your custom types to 1Password entries. Let's start with License Key and see what needs to be done.

Hi @MrC, thanks very much for the quick response. I am not aware of having made any changes or customized the categories (names) in Msecure (I am using Msecure v 3.5.4. and 1 PW v 5.1 - build 510035). I have the same issue with all categories; here are the standard fields used by MSecure for license keys (yes, this category represents SW licenses and the records shall be migrated to the corresponding category in 1 Password): Gruppe i.e. Group (default values: private, business, not allocated), Typ i.e. type (default value: license key), Beschreibung i.e. Description, Provider, URL, Serial Number, Hinweis i.e. Note. Maybe there is a converter table issue with the mapping due to different languages used (I am using German language settings in both apps)? I would like to give another example: In Msecure I also have a category named Registration Codes (also containing license information) - I assume this is also a default category provided by MSecure ? Please do not spend too much effort on this - I have now started to manually enter data - this also gives me a good opportunity to clean up and get rid of outdated records. If it takes more than 15 mins do not bother as this would need to be repeated for all 22 record types I use in Msecure. Thanks very much again.

Ok, I see where things might be going wrong:

    1. Your field names mentioned on the License Key are non-English (looks like German), and you mention you are using the German language setting.
    2. The License Key field is not a stock field in my mSecure 3.5.4 installation. That must be a category you added. So this will have to be added as a new entry to a table in the converter.

Let's start by addressing #1. Did you include the --lang de command line option?

Please show your complete command line here when you reply.
