How can I share my license with my husband

I have 1Password v5.1 on my Macbook. I would like to share this with my husband to use on his iMac. I see in the FAQ in the Knowledgebase that it says:

"Can I share 1Password 5 for Mac with my family?

Yes! A single license lets you share 1Password with up to six family members in the same household."

But I can't work out how to do this - I've been hunting around for almost an hour and still can't work it out. Is there any guidance, please? Please note that I would like our usage to be separate, i.e. I have all my details stored on my machine and he can't see them, and vice versa. We might also want some shared vaults in future but I would like to get him set up first.

Many thanks.

There's a knowledge base article here on adding the licence—with a link about getting it re-sent if you can't find it. However, once you have the licence all you have to do is to transfer a copy to your husband's machine so he can add it to his copy of 1P in the same way. You can transfer the licence by email, USB stick, etc.

You should find that 1P has saved a copy of your licence in the 1Password entry under your Software Licenses category. If so all you need to do is to drag a copy of the licence to your Desktop and you'll be ready to transfer that copy to your husband's machine.

ps. The license has no affect on if you share data, thats entirely up to you. In other words sounds like you have a good plan by getting things setup and working first before adding in more scenarios such as sharing..

Thanks for your replies. I bought 1P from the App Store, not from AgileBits. I also can't find a copy of my licence saved in 1P.

Ah! App Store procedure is its own process, totally determined by Apple.

You don't have a license, the purchase is tied to the AppleID. You have two options.

    1. Log in to the App Store on his machine using YOUR AppleID and download. The logout and let him use his own AppleID (assuming he has one) for other things. I've never needed to do this, but I assume that for any updates you would need to do the same again.

    2. Set up Family Sharing on the App Store.

Brilliant! Thank you! We are trying option 1 and it seems to be working :)
