Generated passwords and duplicate passwords
Hi all,
I have upgraded from 1Password 3 to 1Password 5 and I have 100+ passwords that were created by the Password Generator in version 3.
It seems that these generated passwords, now simply called Passwords, are counted and listed in the Duplicate Passwords section, under Security Audit.
Maybe this functionality has changed since version 3 but to me it's obvious that the generated passwords "history" has duplicate items with the actual login items. And I think it makes the Security Audit less clear, full of noise and useless information, which is not desirable, IMHO.
Does it make sense? Would it be possible that the Duplicate Passwords section does not include generated passwords? What do you think?

What normally happens is this. Generated passwords not linked to a specific, saved Login item are saved in the Passwords category in case you need to retrieve the relevant password. You can clear redundant generated passwords from the Passwords category by going to 1P > Help> Tools > Remove Redundant Generated Passwords. You may find that helps with your problem but if I've misunderstood anything please post again.

Thanks for the info, Stephen_C.
In fact I don't necessarily want to clear my generated passwords list, because I may need to retrieve something from this (convenient) history at some point, as you pointed out.
That said, I think that generated password, which are obvious duplicates of login items, should not be treated the same way as real duplicate login items (i.e. identical passwords used on two different websites, for example)...

Hi @v.fleuranceau,
Can I just check one small thing. I'm wondering if you are aware that Login items already keep a password history. In a Login item that has had it's password changed in the past you should see a show previously used passwords button. When clicked it should show you something like this
It might be that feature will make many of your Password items redundant? Now it may not, I just thought I'd check to make sure.

Yes, of course, login items do keep a password history! I now realize that even if I delete redundant generated passwords, I should not loose any invaluable information. And that way, the remaining Duplicate Passwords should be true duplicates.
Thank you very much Stephen_C and littlebobbytables for your help.
