Hi @macron229,
With point 1. are you referring to the category icons in the Sidebar? The link is just so you can see what I mean by that. If you are it's actually an intended part of our Yosemite look and feel with 1Password 5. We try to and keep 1Password to the style of the operating system. What I've done though is I've found a feature request to bring back colour to the icons and I've added your comment to it.
Now for your second issue. I would say the easiest way forward would be to try the following.
- Quit both 1Password and 1Password mini. You can do this with the keyboard shortcut
⌃⌘Q
when 1Password is open (it doesn't have to be unlocked). - Drag the 1Password application from your
/Applications/
folder to the Trash. Please don't use an app cleaner. - Reboot your Mac.
- Download 1Password again from the same place you purchased it. So via Apple's App Store application if you're a MAS user and from our AgileBits Download page if you're an Agile Web Store (AWS) customer.
That will definitely get you running the latest version, 5.3 but hopefully it will also sort out whatever issue the update was having too. Do please let us know though.
