2 accounts (old & new) in MAS, only old one is able to update 1 Password

I keep running into this same problem. I originally purchased 1PW from the MAS with a password and Apple Account name that I set up (I think in 2011). That was years ago. I have since adopted a new Apple account, name and password. However whenever there is an update, like yesterday's 1PW 5.3, the MAS store shows that the update for 1PW is only available in the old account and I have to update 1 PW on that account. I'd like to move it and future 1PW updates to my newer account which is the account I have been using for over 2 years. How can I do that? Thanks

Thanks for writing to us today. Sorry to hear about the Apple ID mixup. This is really more of an Apple question than a 1Password question, but I may be able to point you in the right direction.

I found this info page on changing your Apple ID.
That may not work if you have two active Apple IDs, but you should be able to use iCloud Family Sharing to share all your purchases from one Apple ID to the other.

will try working with iCloud Family Sharing again, I just want to get it OUT of old Apple ID and don't think MAS will let me do that.

I understand. You may be able to contact Apple support for a way to fully transfer all the purchases, but off the top of my head, Family Sharing seemed like a good workaround. Hopefully you'll be able to make it work to your satisfaction and access your 1Password purchase through the Apple ID you prefer to use. Good luck!

Just thought of something else, Vee - could AgileBits xfer my original old purchase (I did buy it on MAS but, somehow, I also have the License Number for AgileBits, where I first bought it - I can give you that license number too, if it helps) on the old Apple ID & account to my current Apple ID and account? I have the old purchase date etc....account numbers/passwords etc....The only reason for this request is that when 1PW has an update, I get that notification on the old Apple ID/Account. I should be getting it on the new account - mostly I never check the old account. Would this be possible?

I wish we could, @tuni12, but that's all Apple. We have no way to transfer our licenses to the Mac App Store version of 1Password. But if you use Family Sharing to download 1Password from your newer Apple ID, that may be enough to send update notifications to the email address associated with the new Apple ID.

You also have the option of enabling automatic updates on your Mac: System Preferences > App Store > Automatically check for updates, Download newly available updates in the background.
