Change license (from Mac App Store) to new user

Apologies if this should be directed to Apple

I have a second-hand Mac Mini (acquired from a friend) that had a previous installation of 1Password. Unfortunately it requires my friend's Mac App Store ID to update. Very reasonable. So... I've uninstalled that app but still cannot repurchase from the Mac App Store. It still believes the app is installed and should be updated. No "purchase" option available.

Suggestions?

    I suspect you need to ensure you're logged in to the App Store with your own Apple ID rather than your friend's old ID.

    @Stephen_C's post is accurate, signing in with your own Apple ID should solve the problem. If you run into any more trouble though, we'll be here to help!
