How to retrieve 1Password vault?

Hi,
I have 1Password 5 installed on IP6+, I made a backup using ITunes. After I upgrade my IP6 to IOS 8.3, I cannot restore my previous backup anymore. Itunes is saying that the backup is corrupted. I used a program to extract the data specific to 1Password app. I found a file called data.data. Is it possible to restore using this file?
Needless to say, I don't backup my vault to the cloud.
Thanks,

  • Hi @coolguy1004 ,

Have you edited your backup file in anyway, or run any "cleanup" tools that may have edited your backup (MacKeeper, anti-virus software, etc.)? Backups are usually corrupted when the files inside them get modified.

Also, when did you make the backup? Was it just before upgrading? Were you using iOS 8.2 before that?

Also, do you use Windows or OS X on your desktop? And do you keep backups of your desktop using Time Machine or other backup software?

    Thanks for responding.
No. I have not modified the itunes backup in anyways. I used ios 8.1.2 before I upgraded to 8.3. I made the backup right before I upgrade to 8.3. I only used the tool to extract 1password related files after itunes failed to resotre my backup. I'm using Windows and itunes to backup. I dont backup the itunes backup. They still reside in the itune's default folder

  • @coolguy1004,

Just to clarify, you used these instructions to make a backup before upgrading?

    Please let us know. :)

    Hi Ben
Unfortunately, I did not realize I have to do that. I just did a generic complete iphone backup.
    Thanks
    Scott

  • Okay, thanks for the update Scott ( @coolguy1004 ). Unfortunately yes, that is the way to back up 1Password data. Regular iTunes backups do not necessarily back up all app data (including 1Password data).
