Credit card, drivers license etc ID image capture to quickly enter the info

Is there a feature to just take a picture of the credit card or ID we want to add .. which would scan the image and automatically enter the ID number and other details into the ID input form? Entering all the details manually takes time..

Others have a requested a similar feature—but bear in mind that if you input credit details manually you'll have the bonus that 1P will fill in your card details on any site that needs them.

Hi folks,

It sounds like @pratapan is asking for OCR in addition to the capture of images within 1P. That is a slightly different request than we've seen before.

Not something we have at the moment, but something we can look into for the future.

How about just being able to add a picture front & back of your license or your insurance card or credit cards or memberships. This would allow us to have an actual copy of it, if we needed to show it.

That is certainly something our developers are looking into. I don't have any promises to make at this point, but it is being investigated.

@jhruska - You can add photos as attachments to records, but only on the desktop version so far. They will sync across to your iOS installations, where you will then have access to the attachments. But although it currently isn't possible to do so directly in the iOS version, that is an often-requested feature. AgileBits developers are aware of that request, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it come in a future update. But that is just my speculation; I have no access to AgileBits plans. I do not work there.

@jhruska hawkmoth said it perfectly. You can add the images of credit cards via the desktop application and sync them to 1Password 5 for iOS. And bwoodruff explained that this is definitely something we are looking into, but no promises.

I only use the app on my iPhone & iPad. I don't have the app on my home Mac or PC. So this feature would be great for my mobile devices.....thanks

I signed up here just to post this same idea! An implementation similar to what Apple does with their native Safari browser & scanning credit cards would be great. I would buy Pro for this feature given how useful it would be!

Also given many people have multiple cards with same bank/institution, being able to autofill this would also be helpful!

Thanks for your quick reply. I notice there was no way on Facebook to reach out to you guys but glad I found the forums. In fact your fast response even led me to purchase 1password for Windows as I like companies which respond quickly and from reading replies both here and on your blog, it sounds like you guys care about your customers. :)

@jace88 hawkmoth is correct about the location of our Facebook page, but when it comes to support, the forums (where you reached out to us) is your best bet as it is monitored more frequently than our Facebook page.

Bumping this thread. I created an account to suggest this feature as well, but it's already been suggested, which must mean that it is a good idea! This is a nice option in iOS8 where Safari allows the option to scan credit card to autofill it on mobile checkout pages. It would be great to see this implemented by 1password so that it allows faster input and no typos. Thanks for your attention.

Thanks for your feedback! We've had a number of good suggestions on how we could take advantage of the camera on iOS devices, so hopefully we can add these features in a future version! :)
