Login items duplicated as password entries after 5.3 update

Hi all,

I just upgraded to 5.3 and also upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 and after restart suddenly have lots of duplicate items in 1Password. A dozen or so of the website logins (i.e. for amazon) have been duplicated as password entries with no username. I definitely did not do this. Additionally I see a bunch of new items for Safari and Terminal and Finder. None of these require passwords and I keep getting new entries added:

Anyone know how to resolve the problem?

    Hi @jeffrafter ,

    You can remove any passwords that are also saved as Login items by using: Help > Tools > Remove Redundantly Generated Passwords. You can also take a tour through Security Audit's 'Duplicate Passwords' option and more precisely clean things up.

    With respect to the items labelled 'Terminal' and 'Finder' ... have you been generating passwords in mini's strong password generator with those apps in focus? When passwords are generated by 1Password, a copy will be saved in the 'Passwords' category. When possible, 1Password will title that entry with the URL that you are viewing in a web browser, but if another app has focus, 1Password will use the app as the title.

    Hi Megan,

    Thanks for the reply... I tried the Remove Redundantly Generated Passwords option and it found only 2. For the rest though I am not sure... if I should delete them or not. To be clear, these weren't added one at a time... before the update I had about 6-8 password items... after restart I have more than 35 password items many of which have the same name (as shown in the screenshot) and concern apps that weren't in focus. I basically only use the mini icon when generating or looking up a password for a website...

    I don't blame you for being unsure about deleting the passwords. A drastic increase in password items after an update is odd. Let's see if we can investigate a bit further here:

    • These 'new' items, can you check the creation date?
    • Are you using 1Password on any other devices?
    • If so, what are you using to keep things in sync?
