If I have the App Store version, I can sync some of my devices by iCloud right? Then I have some other devices that require dropbox, so I can do both ways, hopefully? Some by iCloud and some by dropbox?

    Good questions! Sorry for any confusion about this, hopefully I can help clear it all up:

    iCloud sync is only available in the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac. That's because it uses Apple's new CloudKit technology, which can only be used by apps sold through the Mac App Store (or the iOS App Store). So if you bought the Mac App Store version, you'll be able to use iCloud sync in 1Password 5 on all your Macs that are associated with that same Apple ID. iCloud sync will also work with 1Password 5 for iOS, if you're using any iOS 8 devices.

    On each Mac or iOS device, you'll be able to choose iCloud or Dropbox sync, but you cannot have both sync options enabled at the same time on a device. Devices using Dropbox sync won't be able to sync with devices using iCloud sync. If you want to sync the same 1Password data across all devices, and some of those devices can only use Dropbox sync, you'll need to use Dropbox sync on all the devices.
