Help. TouchID is not working. It is working well with IoS but not with 1Password. Whenever I leave the app or it locks I'm asked for password only. I've turned TouchID off several times even powered the phone but still no TouchID. I searched forum similar problems nothing works..

Please tell us what your first three settings are under Settings > Security. Please also know what you have set under Settings > Advanced > Security under Require Master Password.

    Settings before and after..

    Lock on Exit = On
    Auto Lock = 1 hour
    Touch ID = On

I toggled Touch ID to Off, killed the App, then reopened and toggled Touch ID back to On. It seems to be working properly now for the first time since the last upgrade.

  • Hi @wlewnka ,

Glad to hear it is working. Let us know if it gives you any trouble in the future.

The first three settings are : lock on exit (on), Auto-lock (5 minutes), TouchID (on).
When I check Settings/Advanced I do not see a Security option anywhere on the screen. The options I have are: Prompt to open website, Language, Create/Restore Backup, Allow Custom Keyboards, Diagnostics, Erase Data and Settings, Erase iCloud Data.

@Rouja please take a look at this knowledge base article—and, in particular, the two screen shots at the start of it. The article (which is about the advanced settings) under Security says this:

This option will only be available if you have Touch ID or a PIN Code enabled.

If you're not seeing the security setting that seems to suggest you have not enabled Touch ID or a PIN code on your phone.

Is any of this any help to you?

Unfortunately not. I do have TouchID enabled. I use it all the time to open my phone and in stores that accept ApplePay. It is working as I write this. So is my passcode. But the screen shots in the article you recommended do not correspond to what I see on my screen. Security option is nowhere to be found. Once again I turned all the 1Password options off and on again. I powered down etc. and still no change.

A miracle just took place. TouchID is working. I don't know how it got to work. My best guess is that I turned off TouchID and security in iOS, powered down the iPhone and then turned touchID back on again in iOS. By the way, Advanced Settings is still not displaying a security option as per the article.

Advanced Settings is still not displaying a security option as per the article.

@Rouja: Could you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing then? Also, be sure to update 1Password. You may want to do that first, as it may resolve the issue. And it does sound like you reset Touch ID and that got it working for you. That's always worked for me with strange iOS 8 issues (Touch ID as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi).

We haven't been able to reliably get ourselves into these weird Touch ID situations, but so far it sounds like it may be related to making changes to Touch ID or PIN settings in iOS after you've already set it up in 1Password. It may be that iOS is not letting us know that something has changed there if, for instance, you're using a PIN on your iPhone, you set up 1Password to use a PIN as well, and then you set iOS to use Touch ID. We're continuing to investigate this.

And for others who may still be having similar issues, often you can simply restart the device or re-set Touch ID to get it working, but there are a few other tips that worked for others in that thread. Just follow these steps:

    1. Launch Settings on your iOS device
    2. Tap on Touch ID & Passcode
    3. Enter your Passcode or Password
    4. Toggle Touch ID to OFF
    5. Press the Home button to return to the Home screen
    6. Shut down and restart your device
    7. Enter your Passcode or Password at the Lock screen
    8. Launch Settings on your iOS device
    9. Tap on Touch ID & Passcode
    10. Enter your Passcode or Password
    11. Toggle Touch ID to ON

Please let me know what you find. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)

@MorningZ: Indeed. It seems like we might not be getting many more iOS 8 updates (8.4 is due Soon™) in favour of iOS 9. But I'm okay waiting til September if it means Apple takes the extra time to polish what's otherwise my favourite iOS feature. :)
