Upgrade 3 to 4
I bought 1Password a long time ago, and now I want to upgrade from v3 to v4. Can I not use my old license anymore for v4? Do I have to submit a new purchase? And: when I click "Buy now" I have only the option to upgrade a license for v5, but not for v4. What can I do to get v4 running on Mavericks beyond the 30 day trial?

The upgrade from 1P3 to 1P4 is a paid upgrade. If you buy from the AgileBits store you will probably get a discounted upgrade price. Go here to find out.
However, do be aware of the fact that if you ever need to use iCloud to sync your 1P data to an iOS device you have to buy 1P from the Mac App Store—and there won't be a discount on that version. Both versions of 1P support sync by Dropbox and local wifi, of course.
Note that if you buy from the AgileBits store you buy a 1P5 licence and that will also license 1P4. You won't then need to buy another licence is you subsequently upgrade to OS X Yosemite.

Hi Drew, thanks for your comment. I do have another question: I also have 1P v5 on another Mac in the office (to manage my personal passwords). I downloaded it from the AgileBits website. 1P asks me to add a license, but I don't have the license file to add. Any hint where and how to get it so I can get past the trial expired version?

1P usually saves your licence file as an attachment to the 1Password item in the Software Licences category. You can drag that attachment from there to your Desktop then transfer it to your office machine by any means you wish (USB stick, email, etc.). (I'm assuming the Mac you use in the office is yours and so within the AgileBits licence terms. :) )

Hi @FF71,
When you upgraded your license, you should have received an email with license information for 1Password 5, including a link to add/download your license file. That same license file works for versions 4 and 5. If you've already added your license file to 1Password 4, you should have a Software License item with a copy of that license file (as Stephen described). Or you can simply download your license file again to add it to 1Password on your other Macs.
If you need more help with that, please let us know! :)

I found the license file in 1P under Software Licenses, and added it to 1P on my other Mac. Thanks again.
