    Please try this:

    1. Drag the 1P app to the trash (don't use any app cleaner tool, which is likely to try to delete files you need to keep).
    2. Empty the trash and reboot.
    3. Re-download and re-install 1P.

It worked. Thank you. Can you explain why it happened? I'm curious.

@greerme AgileBits has no control over the Mac App Store. I'm afraid you have to take up your refund request direct with Apple.

oops...looks like I messed up. I forgot I had purchased directly from you years back. Forgot I hadn't bought it from the app store. My license is under [email address removed by admin] What options do I have?

    Hi @greerme,

I've removed your email address as this is a public forum, and we don't want anyone to get a peek at it and start sending you chain letters. ;)

I was able to locate your license information in our back office records however. I see a license for 1Password 3 purchased in 2011. Now, the upgrade from 1Password 3 to 1Password 4 was a paid upgrade, so purchasing from the Mac App Store is not entirely bad.

    Here are your options:

    • Continue to use 1Password 5 from the Mac App Store (and take advantage of iCloud sync, which is exclusive to apps sold from the Mac App Store)
    • Request a refund from Apple and then re-purchase 1Password 5 from the AgileBits Store. Because you already own 1Password 3, we can give you a discount on your upgrade (which we are unable to do via the Mac App Store.) Just enter your existing license details on our upgrade page.

I hope this helps, but please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
