Why do I need to pay again for my Licence??
Hello,
I'm a mac user of 1password since many years,
I bought a the licence on January 03, 2011,
and since this date It worked like a charm
1password5 has been upgraded as soon as released, worked perfectly,
and I don't understand why, since a couple of days, I see Trial Expired in my 1password,
I go to the website to see my purchase and effectively I am the happy owner of a licence since more than 4 years,
so I try to import again my licence with no success,
I go back to your website and It seems that I have to PAY AGAIN for something
I've ever pay which was working for many years,
It's like I buy a TV and 4 years afters Samsung come to my home, remove
a component from it and force me to pay again!
please tell me that I misunderstood and tell me how to do,

The upgrade from 1P3 to 1P4 was paid, not free. Did you buy that upgrade? If so, the 1P4 licence will also licence 1P5 (in other words, you don't have to pay again to upgrade from 1P4 to 1P5).
There's a lot more about the "trial expired" message in this knowledge base article.

Hi @richardjul,
I took a quick look in our back office records, and I was able to find a license for 1Password for Windows (purchased in January 2011) under the email address you have attached to your forum account, but no licenses for 1Password for Mac.
As Stephen says, the upgrade from 1Password 3 for Mac to 1Password 4 for Mac was a paid upgrade. (But the upgrade from 1Password 4 for Mac to 1Password 5 for Mac is free for all 1Password 4 owners.) The good news is, that since you own a license for 1Password already, you can get a discount on a 1Password 5 license. Just enter your existing license details on our upgrade page to see your available discount.
The link about the 'trial expired' message that Stephen posted should answer all your questions, but we're here if you have any other questions or concerns.

1PW licenses work the way most developers use for their licenses.
That is, you are never forced to upgrade as long as your current version is compatible with your OS. You may want to upgrade to get additional features.
A major upgrade often (but not always) requires an additional payment.
In your Samsung analogy, it's more as if 4K TV has just been introduced, and they ask you to pay to get 4K on your old TV.

Hi @richardjul
Another link you may find informative is our AgileBits Software Licenses page.
If you are a 1Password 3 for Mac customer with a licence that we simply didn't find in our first search, then as our licence page states, you can run 1Password 3 for as long as you want and you can return to that version if you prefer.
If you have any follow up questions to any of these posts please do ask
