1Password Crash on Adding Tags

Hello,

1) I've been sorting through my 1Password and it has been constantly crashing (or behaving very slow) when adding tags.
2) I also noticed that my tags do not all show up on my screen and they trail off to the right side so I have trouble reading all of them .

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

As you've posted in the 1P for Mac forum I'm assuming you're using 1P for Mac. Please tell us what version of 1P you are using (go to 1Password > About 1Password, click on *Copy to Clipboard" and post the result here).

It would also be useful to know how you are adding the tags (typing and using auto-complete, dragging and dropping or creating a new tag).

Note this is really addressed to the crash problem. (Incidentally, have you submitted the resulting 1P crash reports to AgileBits?). I believe your second point is a known issue when there are many tags for a single item.

    Re:

    1. I had several issues a while back regarding tags crashing 1Password too.
It was tagging items in rapid succession at least in my opinion it was. Might this have been your issue ? I was applying tags to items in the software section for the year I purchased an item. It was really easy to add multiple items at once. I ended up just slowing my work flow down to tag items at a slower pace.

    2. This has been fixed in the current beta. You should see a change in the next release, unless they find an issue/bug that would prohibit it from being released. To be more specific the tags now wrap to a new line instead of extending off the page.

Thank you for that @thightower, I don't think I'd have been much use here as it seems we're discussing extensive use of tags, well beyond the level I currently use them.

    Thank you all.

@thightower the issue is exactly as you described. When I am typing a few tags in a row, it tends to crash the system.

@Stephen_C I have submitted the dozen or 2 times the app has crashed (using v5.3). I am typing the tags. Maybe I should try and drag them instead?

    Thanks!

Maybe I should try and drag them instead?

Note that if you want to try that you drag the item to the tag, not the other way around. I mention only to make sure it's clear.

Having only recently realised about the dragging of items to a tag I have to say, I find that an easier way of doing it anyway as well as allowing you to tag multiple items at the same time.

@thightower It might be I'm just really slow but I tried adding new tags to a test item. I added a through to m but it didn't crash on me. I found it hard trying to add multiple tags to an item quickly though so it might be you're just a lot quicker? I then tried adding ~200 items to a bunch of tags quickly but it didn't fall over there either. Is there anything you can suggest to reliably cause a crash?

    @littlebobbytables

I sent in several Crash Reports on the issue. I believe Rick has them or had them. It has been a small period of time since I had the issue. I was able to semi reliably reproduce it. I was viewing all items in a secondary vault, software section to be exact. I would command click as I scrolled the list on each entry corresponding to the time frame I was looking for. I would go for a few maybe ??? 10 to 15 items selected. Then drag them over to the tag and drop them on top of it.

    Hi @thightower ,

Thanks for submitting the crash reports! It sounds like you've been unable to reproduce this recently - is that correct? And just to confirm, you're using our beta version, right?

I have not had the issue since, originally posted, but doubt I would have seen it as I completed most of my tagging. Always beta for me unless you happen to push a stable.

I've never been 100% sure what happens with crash reports so as long Rick has them that's okay
