iPad PIN code will not switch on
The how to I got from Dave says to say turn off lock on exit and turn on PIN code, but when I do this on my iPad, the app throws up a message that I have to change my settings on the device. (to quote” Device Passcode Required, To use a PIN code to unlock 1Password, please enable Passcode in iPad settings.” I have already done enabled a Passcode, so why won't 1Password allow me to flick this switch and set up a PIN like I had on my old iPhone 4S?)
WHAT settings, where will able this switch?
When I go to the device settings for 1Password I am given three options, none of which relate to this (Location, Background App Refresh and Use Cellular data).
When I go to the Passcode settings referred to in the Apple article you provide a link to, there is no mention of 1Password.
So please advise and then fix the how to and add a screen shot of the settings menu on the iPad for setting up the required Passcode and enabling me to set a PIN.

Hi @jjball,
Before a 1Password unlock PIN can be set your device must be set to unlock with a PIN (preferably different from the one you plan to use for 1Password). This setting is not specific to 1Password, and as such you will not see anything related to 1Password when setting it up... It is for the device itself.
You can find alternate instructions on doing this over at OS X Daily:
http://osxdaily.com/2014/01/22/enable-ios-passcode/
Once you've enabled the device PIN you can then enable 1Password's PIN (again, preferably with a different PIN code than used for the device itself).
Thanks!
Ben

Bwoodruff, thanks but this is not the issue. I refer you to my comment that I have already got a device passcode. I have always had one. Therefore this reason for my toggle not toggling is not the problem. That is why this issue is so frustrating. And before you ask, yes I have iPad Air, with up to date IOS. So any further thoughts?

I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your iOS device:
https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/ios.html
Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@agilebits.com
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can quickly track down the Report and ensure that it is dealt with quickly. :)
Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

bwoodruff, now here's my problem: the screenshot shown in the link you posted said to lunch 1 Password then click "settings" giving "advanced" in which "diagnostics etc. are found. But, for version 5.4.1 which I have, settings does not have an "advanced" tab. It has "Vaults, Security, Sync, Display, 1Browser, Apple Watch, Pro Features, Help? and Recommend 1Password." So where will I find this advanced button indeed the diagnostics button?

bwoodruff, despite all my sending of diagnostics, all I got was a message from Agilebits saying now that I could sync my iPad everything was OK. That was never my problem and the problems in this dialogue remain totally unresolved. So let me repeat. If, on the iPad Air 1, the toggle switch to turn on shortcode will not turn on, and I have ALREADY got a passcode set (so that is not the issue) , how can I turn this toggle on? please refer to support ID [#AKF-16914-595].
Anyone else have/solve this problem?
