Suntrust mobile app

Sorry if this has already been covered but I haven't found it through searching. I want to create a strong password for my Suntrust Mobile Banking app. I know that 1Password will generate one but the nature of that password is that it is un-rememberable. Is it possible for 1Password to auto-login to an app like that?

1P5 for iOS (which I assume is what you're using) can work only through Safari or the in-built 1P browser—or with any apps that have incorporated the 1P extension architecture (which is freely available to app developers). You can find here a list of apps that currently support 1P5 for iOS.

It's thus up to your Bank to do something about support for 1P in the banking app—and, sadly, not something AgileBits can do unilaterally.

Yeah, thanks, Stephen. I thought that would be the answer but wanted to verify. I will rattle Suntrust's cage and see if I can get them to look into incorporating 1Password into their software...I'm not optimistic. In the meantime, I can copy the password from 1Password and paste it into the Suntrust app.

    Hi @tomontheroad,

While it isn't ideal or as neat as the elegant use of the extension, at least you do still have the old copy and paste route available. If you don't already can I suggest looking in 1Password's preferences on your iOS device, specifically Settings > Security. In there you will see an option for automatically clearing the clipboard after you copy something from your vault. A little reassurance so something sensitive isn't left on the clipboard.

Given the iOS model for extensions, uptake can be slow but I believe it has been favourably received when an app adds it  I do understand it though, Apple wanted to take extensions slowly and make sure the user was never at risk. For that we can't say anything too harsh

Thanks for the reminder...I knew about the settings in preference to erase the clipboard but had forgotten about it. As far as rattling Suntrust's cage about adding a 1Password extension, how best does one go about it? I imagine a letter from a single user wouldn't motivate them much. I think they would have to see some return from their investment potential before they would consider it...do you have any suggestions?

That's a good question @tomontheroad, I shall have to ask around. I'm reminded of this recent PR faux pas by TD Canada Trust and I believe (based on the update at the bottom of that link) that TD Canada Trust realised there could be a better approach. Now the weekends around here can often be pretty quiet but I shall ask what others think and report back
