iCloud and store version
Hi,
So I am wondering why no iCloud support in the Agile store version? I have purchased many copies of 1Password, both directly and in the App Store. I have a family Lic so my daughter can use one Password as well. After quite a bit of frustration, I discover that the store version does not support iCloud, which is very handy when you have to set up a new phone.
Is iCloud support doing to the Agile store version too?
Thanks.
Blessings,

Most of what you want to know you'll find in this handy knowledge base article:
iCloud FAQs (iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite)
However, in a nutshell, I'd guess you'll not find iCloud sync coming to the AgileBits store version any time soon unless Apple changes its policies.

Hi @markspaulding,
I'm sorry for any confusion about that! iCloud sync is only available in the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac because it uses Apple's new CloudKit technology, which can only be used by apps sold through the Mac App Store. We'd absolutely love to be able to include that in the AgileBits Store version of 1Password as well, but unfortunately that's not currently possible.
In addition to the link from Stephen's reply, you can find some more information about that in these knowledgebase articles:
Why does iCloud require iOS 8, OS X 10.10, and the Mac App Store?
I do not see the option to sync with iCloud in 1Password for Mac
If you need to sync with the AgileBits Store version of 1Password for Mac, you'll need to switch to Dropbox sync.
If you have more questions about your sync options or need anything else, please let us know - we're always glad to help!

Thanks for clearing this up.
It would have been helpful to see a banner on the store warning users that this version does not work with iCloud as that would have changed my purchasing decision. Now that I have purchased, I will have to do on my daughter's machine what I have done on mine, purchase again at full freight! Like I said above, I have purchased several 1password keys!
I am using the dropbox syncing, but this way of syncing is far inferior for one reason only. I use my very strong 1password passwords for Dropbox. All good there and thank you 1Password! But on the occasion that I have to set up a device as a NEW device, I can't get to dropbox until I log-in. Typing that very long password by reading off another device is very tedious for a dyslexic!
Anyway, thanks for letting me know.

Hi @markspaulding,
I'd go one further and say it's a pain in the proverbial for everybody but undoubtedly more difficult for something with dyslexia.
This doesn't work for iOS devices but when I'm setting up a new machine for whatever reason I like to take advantage of Screen Sharing. Using that I can copy and paste usernames and passwords to help with that setup of the new machine until it reaches the point where 1Password is up and running.
Another option is to initialise the vault using a backup from another machine, transferring it over using a pen drive.
Of course in the end it's all about what works best for you. Depending on when you purchased 1Password it is true there may not have been a notice stating MAS is required. We've had to work on improving aspects, like the store, since this all happened with the release of iCloud Drive and the realisation of what it meant going forward. I would like to think we're making progress but that isn't to say there isn't always room to improve.
