Or I need help perhaps fixing a broken sync setup. I installed dropbox, setup sync, sync'd with my main vault, after that I moved my dropbox sync location to another physical drive, and now 1password seems to be split brained, it has a physical local copy of that vault that it has stored (somewhere) but it is not sync'd any longer and is not pushing or pulling changes from the primary vault.

when i go into the sync settings and point it at the new location it tells me data is already there and it will be merged, I don't want to merge and end up with duplicates of everything

How do I either RELINK the vault or RESET onepassword so I can point it to the dropbox location and let it start over?

Thanks

    Hi @zmw,

I'm sorry you're having a bit of trouble with Dropbox sync!

Starting in version 4, 1Password for Mac keeps a local copy of your data which is separate from your sync data. So even if your sync settings get disabled, you can still access and use all your existing data in 1Password (although it won't sync anywhere else until you re-enable the sync settings).

If you moved the 1Password.agilekeychain to a different location, that would disable Dropbox sync in the 1Password settings. When you re-enable Dropbox sync, you'll need to choose the 1Password.agilekeychain (in its new location in Dropbox) and click the Merge with Existing button. If you've made changes in 1Password since the last time it synced with Dropbox, you'll get a Merge with Dropbox vault message that will ask you to enter your master password for the vault in Dropbox. That warning appears just in case you have multiple vaults, so you don't accidentally merge two completely different vaults together. If you only have one vault (or if you're sure you selected the right one), you can go ahead and merge the data (enter the master password and click the Unlock and Merge button).

When you merge, 1Password looks for new data in each vault and adds it to the other. Any items that match in both vaults are left alone, so you shouldn't get any duplicates.

Sorry for the confusion about that! If you have more questions or need anything else, just let us know. We're always glad to help! :)
