[change-website-password] Why doesn't "Change Password" work faster and smoother, like this...

  1. I navigate to a "change password " web page (for any app)
  2. I hit command-slash (or whatever my keyboard shortcut is)
  3. 1password asks me to confirm I'd like to change my password
  4. 1password fills in the old password, picks a new one, and submits the form
  5. 1password asks "everything look good?" - if I reply "no, something went wrong" it navigates me back to the change password page, fills in my original old password, and displays the password recipe so I can configure my password to meet the requirements stated on the page.

    Hi @coopr,

In a general sense, that's what 1Password does, although in a slightly different order. Here are the basic steps for changing a login password, as described in this knowledgebase article:

    1. Find the website’s Change Password page
    2. Enter your current password (if needed)
    3. Generate a new password and finish the changing the password on the website
    4. Update the saved Login

I think there are a couple main things here that differ from how you'd like it to work:

1password fills in the old password, picks a new one, and submits the form

It sounds like you'd like 1Password to pick a new password for you and fill it in, without you needing to view the generated password and password recipe first. The problem is that very few sites seem to have the exact same requirements for a password, so you'd be likely to run into problems a lot more often if 1Password worked this way. By viewing the generator and recipe first, you can make sure a compatible password is generated.

1password asks "everything look good?" - if I reply "no, something went wrong" it navigates me back to the change password page, fills in my original old password, and displays the password recipe so I can configure my password to meet the requirements stated on the page.

This isn't necessary, because the website will let you know if there's a problem with the new password you try to submit, and should take you back to the "change password" form so you can try again. Also, by having you check the generator & recipe first, you can usually avoid problems like that.

Is there a specific part of the current procedure that you feel is a problem? If so, we'd love to get some feedback about that so we can make improve it in the future, if possible. Thanks!
