Completion menu moves and loses input, jumps ~1 second after opening

Every time I press the cmd-\ shortcut to activate completion in a browser, 1Password first appears as a menu beneath the menubar applet, then jumps to what I presume to be the browser extension popover in the middle of the screen. This is jarring, but worse, when the vault is locked and these appear with a password entry field, I start typing my password only to have it reset/forgotten when snapping from the menu view to the extension popover view. End result: I constantly find myself getting my password rejected because the first window received the first half while the second received the second half. I'm kind of amazed that this is still the standard behavior of the most core function of the system after several years with the current model.

    I suspect others would be amazed too...because if it were so for everyone this forum would be full of complaints about it. :) It isn't so I rather suspect it's something specific to your own system. You've not told us anything about that so please let us know:

    1. what version of 1P you are using (go to 1Password > About 1Password, click on Copy to Clipboard and post the result here);
    2. what browser you're using and the version number of the 1P extension in the browser;
    3. your OS X version number;
    4. purely for good measure, whether you sync your 1P data with any other device and if so what version of 1P you're running on that device;
    5. whether you're using more than one monitor when the problem happens.

    (Point 4 is probably relevant only to the extent of whether or not the problem is also visible on the other device.)

    In addition, a screen shot here showing the initial problem might be helpful.

    Hi @jrk,

    I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble here. We are currently tracking a bug that sounds a lot like what you're describing. In our experience, this is happening in the beta version of Chrome. Could you please answer the questions that Stephen asked previously so that we can determine if this is indeed the same issue?

    Good to hear that I'm not crazy to think this is surprisingly less polished than I generally expect 1Password to be! I have seen it enough on my Macs, for long enough (I think since some version 4.X on OS X 10.9 or even 10.8), that I thought it was standard behavior.

    Currently:

    1. 1Password
      Version 5.3 (530029)
      Mac App Store
    2. Chrome 43.0.2357.65 beta (64-bit) / 1Password extension 4.3.1.90
    3. OS X 10.10.3
    4. I sync, via Dropbox, with an iPhone, iPad, and two secondary Macs. All are running the latest respective app store (pro) versions.
    5. No, I almost exclusively use a single display (4K at virtual 2560x1440 on the desktop where I notice it the most).

    Visually, I press cmd-\ in Chrome on a page, and:

    Phase 1 (for ~1 second, the menu bar applet is what shows):

    Phase 2 (thereafter, the Chrome extension mini-applet shows):

    Hi @jrk,

    Thanks for all the details and screencaps--very helpful! It does look like this is a known issue that we're working to fix, but in the meantime, other forum discussions have concluded that switching from Chrome beta to a stable Chrome build tends to resolve this problem. If you give that a try, we'd be interested to hear how it works out for you. Thanks!
