Newbie: a list of usernames/passwords that are not auto-filled?

I've just bought and started to use 1Password.

I ran into a site that uses some sort of horrible Flash element for username/login (www.albelli.nl). I thought: let's store the password in 1Password anyway. Then I tried the web site and this horrible web site uses a login field to subscribe you to their news letter. Sigh.

So, now I want to make a list of usernames/passwords that are 'passive'. I created a file with one example and added it as attachment to a Secure Note. Then I deleted the file from my computer. But while I can open that attached file from 1Password and it seems I can edit it (it opens in TextEdit), when I save the 'unlocked' and edited file, 1Password does not save the change.

So, what is a better way to do this?

By the way, I do not want to copy it to my computer and copy it back. That way, the data remains in the file system and could be recovered if someone steals my computer.

    Hi @gctwnl ,

I think what you may ultimately want is to set the Never submit value for the submit field in a log in record. Edit the record in question, and find submit at the end of the entry, and change Submit when enabled to Never submit.

    Hi @gctwnl,

Just to reiterate, you're looking for a way of storing the login details for sites that don't play well with 1Password but you want to do so in a way where you don't mix them up with working Login items, does that sound about right? I just ask to make sure I've not misunderstood at all.

If I'm correct I see a couple of potential approaches.

    1. What if you removed the use of the file and instead used the Secure Note for storing this list? That way you would eliminate the issue you're experiencing of having to have an unencrypted copy on your machine while you edit it. It would allow for easier editing and copying.
    2. Another possibility that springs to mind is to use individual Login items. Instead of the submit option I'm thinking of the display. If you change this from the default, Always to Never display in browser it will remove it (in terms of visibility) from 1Password mini. That way you can't accidentally select it but you can copy and paste the individual fields from the main 1Password window.

You could merge the ideas too. You could create a single Login item for all the troublesome sites you want to list in this manner and create individual sections for each site. That would allow a single item for all of them while still (hopefully) making the pieces of information easier to copy.

Now if I'm completely off base please do let me know.
