Please tell us:
- what version of 1P you used on your Mac;
- what version of 1P for iOS you are using (go to the 1P Settings screen and look towards the bottom for the version number);
- your OS X version number and your iOS version number;
- what sync method you used for your 1P data.

Hi @Rikk,
If prior to the crash your MacBook Pro and iPhone were in sync then we can definitely help you start over on the Mac and use the iPhone as the source. Stephen_C's questions will help us supply much better directed instructions for your situation so the answers to those would be really helpful :smile: We should be able to get up and running again without too much fuss.

Latest versions of both 1Ps, of OS X, and of iOS. Sync through connection to iTunes OR via manual sync in iPhone 1P settings. Thanks so much.

Hi @Rikk,
All of the sync methods available to the latest versions of 1Password (v5.3 for Mac, 5.4.1 for iOS) are automated and we haven't been able to sync via iTunes for a while now. As such I'm not entirely sure what version you are running.
Can you confirm for me please that you are indeed running 5.4.1 for iOS and 5.3 or 5.3.1 for Mac. What we can do is copy a backup from the iOS device via iTunes and use that to start over on the Mac but it would require up to date versions of 1Password.
Part of the ambiguity that can arise with saying you're running the latest version is that you could be running an old version of Mac or iOS and are running the latest compatible version but not the latest. For example, if you were running iOS 7 on your iOS device you wouldn't be offered 1Password 5 at all as it isn't compatible and it would show as you being up to date.
Once we've confirmed the versions we'll be in a better place to help you resolve this.
This page may help, What version of 1Password am I running?

Sorry.. my bad (sincere apologies). I assumed that syncing happened through iTunes. But can confirm that I am running the latest versions: 1P 5.3.1 on OS X 10.10.3; 1P 5.4.1 on iOS 8.3.

Hi @Rikk,
Thank you for confirming the versions. Knowing this I can suggest one approach to copy your 1Password for iOS vault to your Mac.
- I would like you to follow the section titled Creating manual backups on our page, Creating and restoring 1Password backups in iTunes (iOS).
- This will result in a folder titled
Backups
and inside that folder a file with file extension.1p4_zip
- Now you want to follow our guide, How do I start over with an empty vault? on your Mac.
- Now our guide, Finding existing 1Password data during setup will take you through the steps of using the backup file in that
Backups
folder to start 1Password up again.
After that you will need to reactivate syncing. It's hard to say how you have been doing it at the moment but your options between a Mac and an iOS device are iCloud (if you purchased 1Password for Mac from Apple's Mac App Store (MAS)), Dropbox or Wi-Fi Sync. Our page, Syncing your 1Password data will link you to all of the options.
If you need any help at all please do just shout and we'll do our best to assist :smile:
