Synchronise with iOS over iCloud
i have 1password for Mac version 5.3.1 and on my iPad and iPhone6 version 5.4.1. My iOS versions synchronise over iCloud but not my Mac versions, this doesn't make sense to me, I cannot count on either version being up to date and iCloud is by far the best way to synchronise whereby I know that I am up to date. Please help. I know that I purchased the iOS versions from Apple and the Mac from Agile bits but thought this would al be sorted by now?

The AgileBits store version of 1P5 does not support iCloud sync. Please take a look at this knowledge base article:
Why does iCloud require iOS 8, OS X 10.10, and the Mac App Store?

Either Dropbox sync or wifi sync work with the versions you have and many people (including me) find one or other of those works perfectly.

Hi @paul2015,
Sorry, it isn't a case of time sorting this out. When Apple launch iCloud Drive they decided to start enforcing iCloud related restrictions. Unless they change their policy it will remain the case where 1Password for Mac (AWS) won't be able to sync over iCloud. You can learn more from the link Stephen_C posted. We don't have this issue with 1Password for iOS because the only place you can obtain it is from iTunes.
Hopefully you might find Dropbox a reasonable alternative. If you have any follow up questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks Stephen, had I have realised I would have purchase 1password for Mac from the App stores not Agile Bits. Would Agile Bits allow me a refund for Mac and then I can buy the App Store version for simplicity and convenience?

If you bought 1P5 from the AgileBits store within the past 30 days AgileBits will refund your money to enable you to purchase 1P5 from the Mac App Store. If you're within that time limit let us know here and someone will tell you how to get the refund.

Thanks to all who have commented, unfortunately it was some time ago so a refund is not possible, I have now successfully configured my 2 Macs and 2 iOS devices to sync with my Dropbox account, seems to work well and thanks again.

Hi @paul2015,
I do apologise for all of this and I'm glad to hear Dropbox has proven to be an acceptable alternative. At the time you purchased 1Password for Mac iCloud Sync wasn't one of the available features - it would have been quite the feat of clairvoyance to have made the right call and you know what they say about hindsight. Even when 1Password 4 first came out several months later iCloud Sync worked for everybody although I know that when I purchased I could read about the potential pitfalls of one store over the other.
Dropbox has a couple of nice advantages over iCloud and it doesn't have to cost a penny for moderate usage - you may even find you have some other apps that can use it. Should you have any troubles with Dropbox you know where we are

Thanks to all for your help, I'm sure synchronisation will be fine now, just needed to understand the best way to organise it - thanks.

Hi @paul2015,
With Dropbox you can sync secondary vaults so there are organisational options available. When we first introduced secondary vaults it was with the intention of sharing common Login items between people e.g. a couple or a workforce. Many of us though saw the opportunity to use vaults as a logical divide e.g. personal and work. That's what I do and I really like the fact that they're separated out. If you have any questions do please ask and we'll do out best to suggest.
