Unique unlock password just for iPhone?
Sorry if this has been asked 100 times before, but it seems like an extremely important "need".
If I change my master password on the iOS app to something much shorter and easier to type (because your app locks me out repeatedly even though it really doesnt need to) .... will that change my master password on my windows desktop as soon as the two sync again?
If so, this should not happen.
Phone apps like this can remain unlocked for much longer than an hour. Phones have their own security. I dont get why the desktop app stays open indefinitely once I've unlocked it (as long as browser is open) but on my phone I have to repeatedly enter the security code if its been more than 1 hour?
At the very least, the iOS app should have the capability of a unique passcode since the desktop passcode is a total PITA to type...

Hi @AgileBurger,
On both Mac and iOS the security settings are configurable as to when 1Password will lock:
Mac: https://support.1password.com/guides/mac/security-preferences.html
iOS: https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-ios/5/en/topic/settings-securityYour Master Password is for your vault, not your device, so you'll unlock the vault using that Master Password on any device.
On iOS you can also configure a PIN (if your device is not Touch ID capable) or Touch ID (if it is):
https://support.1password.com/touch-id-faq/I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.
Thanks!

Unfortunately your response doesn't address any of the things I asked. And misunderstood the things I did say.
First off, I already stated that the device has a maximum lock period of 1 hour:
"I have to repeatedly enter the security code if its been more than 1 hour?"
I drew a comparison to my desktop which stays open indefinitely:
"as long as browser is open"
So I am aware of the lock time settings.
This wasn't my question.
My question was why does my device have a maximum of 1 hour when my desktop has the option to stay open indefinitely?
It is a royal pain to have to repeatedly unlock my device just to get into my stuff.
I explained why:
"Phones already have their own security".
So its safer to allow the password app to stay open.
(wrote all this above - guess you missed it)Secondly, I was asking whether the device can have a unique Master Passcode.
Instead you have responded telling me that there is no Master Passcode on the device at all:
"Your Master Password is for your vault, not your device"
This is false.
Not only do you have to use the master password to get into the iOS app on the device..
But the device uses the master password that was originally set on the vault.
Additionally, in the device security settings, it clearly says "Change Master Password".So my question was in regards to this.
I guess I will rewrite that as well ................................
"If I change my master password on the iOS app ... will that change my master password on my windows desktop as soon as the two sync again?
I opted to change the master password (which is intentionally long and complex) so that I could get into the 1Password app on my device (every hour!!) more easily. So a unique master password for the device would be a mediocre solution to this incessant unlocking requirement. If I could make it something like "cat" then having to enter the password 12 times a day wouldn't seem so bad. But I dont want that to change the master password on my desktop, which is long and elaborate for a reason.

Hi @AgileBurger,
Sorry for any confusion. I believe I misunderstood you on some points and you misunderstood me on some points. I'll attempt to clarify:
First off, I already stated that the device has a maximum lock period of 1 hour:
If you are talking about the iOS device itself, I haven't found this to be the case. Settings app > General > Auto-Lock has a "never" option.
If you are talking about 1Password, yes, you're correct, but if you turn Lock on Exit off, set Auto-Lock to 1 hour, and enable either a PIN or Touch ID (whichever your device supports) it should be exceedingly rare that you have to type your Master Password -- only if you restart the device or force quit 1Password -- and should only have to type the PIN or use Touch ID infrequently.
Secondly, I was asking whether the device can have a unique Master Passcode.
The short answer is "no."
"Your Master Password is for your vault, not your device"
This is false.Sorry, but no, it isn't. What I mean by this is that your vault is encrypted by your Master Password, so regardless of what device you are on the Master Password is what decrypts the data. The Master Password is for the vault, not for the device. I did not mean that it isn't necessary to enter the Master Password to decrypt the data in your vault on your device.
"If I change my master password on the iOS app ... will that change my master password on my windows desktop as soon as the two sync again?
If sync is running properly, yes, it will.
I would strongly discourage you from changing the Master Password and instead enable either a PIN or Touch ID. It seems enabling a PIN/Touch ID in 1Password's security settings would address most of your concerns.
Hopefully that is more clear. Thanks!
Ben
