Force refresh of rich icons

I currently run 1Password on my Mac and my iPhone 6. I have several software licenses that I have input from the mac app that use the default rich icons. These are then synced via iCloud to my iPhone. Unfortunately my iPhone then displays these items with either dated rich icons (the latest ones look great on my Mac) or show no icons at all. How can I force the iOS app to search for the latest rich icons?

If you turn off rich icons in preferences and then turn it back on, it should refresh your rich icons.

    Unfortunately the problem persists.

Sorry my idea didn't work. I'll have to defer to others at this point.

  • Hi @andrewlumley,

On Mac 1Password has the ability to look into your /Applications folder for icons, and will pull from there if they are available. On iOS we don't have that luxury, and the images are instead pulled from our Rich Icon server (if enabled). This is likely why you're seeing a difference between the two.

    Thanks!

Ahh interesting, I guess I'll copy those images over as custom icons then. Thanks!

Using that info I now have some great looking icons for all of my mac entries. Do consider syncing those to iOS via iCloud in a future update. Thanks

@andrewlumley - I will guess that AgileBits won't be allowed to look for icons for application on iOS devices because of Apple's sandboxing requirements that isolate applications from one another, unless they are specifically designed for such crosstalk. But that's my guess.

I've often done what you have by making icons imported from applications on my Mac into custom versions and allowing them to sync to my iOS devices. A short cut for doing so, if you haven't found it, is to just double click on the icon while in Edit mode, then clicking Done and saving the edit.

I understand the iOS restrictions, I was actually suggesting that the two apps sync such that the icon found on the mac would also be visible on the iOS device. I tried double-clicking the icon on my mac but unfortunately that just introduces a box around the icons which doesn't look great so I will leave it for now. Thanks anyways!

  • Thanks for the suggestion, @andrewlumley. :)
