Feature request (iOS & Apple Watch): randomised Quick Unlock numerical keypad

For users of the iOS app - and also the companion Apple Watch app - might it be possible to add an option for users to have the numbers on their Quick Unlock input keypad presented in a randomly jumbled / scrambled order each time they access it?

At present, it's not too difficult for observers to work out a Quick Unlock code by watching the pattern and general location of a user's key presses.

If the numbers could instead be presented in a random order each time, this would provide an extra layer of security.

Not everyone would want this, of course, as it would slow down data entry - and many may perceive it as more annoying than useful. However, a settings option to enable / disable the feature would obviously address this.

I apologise if this has been suggested previously (I did try searching first).

  • Hi @FragileBits,

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not sure this is technically feasible -- my understanding is that this keyboard is provided by Apple and may not be customizable by us, but I'll certainly pass the suggestion along to our development staff.

    Thanks!

    Ben
