Reinstalling 1PW on a phone after erasing and setting up as New

My phone seems to be unable to find ~2.5GB of its storage space. Since I've tried everything else, I am going to erase the phone and set up as new. I mainly use 1PW from my phone although I have it on my Mac also. So I am nervously wondering what to do and in what order to restore my 1PW data. I am syncing via Dropbox. Any help or guidance getting started would be appreciated.

  • Hi @BigDave56,

Thanks for taking the time to write in.

Not that this is why you're writing to us, but I wanted to comment on this line:

My phone seems to be unable to find ~2.5GB of its storage space.

If you purchase, for example, a 16 GB iPhone that does not mean you'll have 16 GB of usable space: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3604805?start=0&tstart=0

This may not be new information, so, moving on to your question for us:

If you are syncing via Dropbox you should be able to simply start syncing again once you reinstall. But I'd recommend and additional safety net:

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

    Ben

I wasn't clear in my original post. I'm aware that the nominal capacity of the phone includes space used by the OS and thus not 'available' to the user. Here's what I meant to say: iTunes says my phone has ~5.6 GB of free space, the phone says it has ~3.4GB. Presumably they are on the same page as to their criteria for measuring. Restores from backup have not solved the discrepancy.

Another concern is that 1PW on my computer says it has 224 items saved and 197 on the phone. (?) Shouldn't they be the same?

The link you provided looks useful- thanks. Can't be too safe, especially as much as I depend on 1PW! I followed the steps and also printed the list (to pdf) from my Mac 1PW. Appreciate the help.

    Presumably, yes. :)

Please let us know if you run into any difficulties!

Went very smooth; didn't need the safety net. 1PW rules.

  • Perfect. Thanks for the update! Glad to hear it worked out. :)
