iPad2 / iOS7 / 4.53 - avoiding iOS8

Have the current version on my iPhone 6, would like to use 4.53 on iOS7 with my iPad2. Looks like the old version does daily backups but has no way to "restore" those backups?

Unfortunately the older version is going to have very limited options for getting current data into it. Dropbox is your best bet:
