Synching issues
I've looked through multiple forums and step by step instructions, and am still having no luck synching my iphone with my windows laptop through dropbox. I've had 1password for 2 years and really need to synch them up. Can I talk to someone and work through the problem 'live'?
1Password Version: 1.0.9.342
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: Windows laptop / iPhone

@jordanmccullough14: Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry for the trouble!
It looks like you're using a rather old version of 1Password for Windows, so I wonder if that might be part of the problem. Please let us know which OS and 1Password version you're using on each device you want to sync and we'll be happy to help you get it set up. Thanks in advance! :)

Working on a Windows 7 Professional desktop computer, running 1password version 1.0.9.342. When I click 'check for newest version' in the Help menu, I get a dialogue box that says 'you are running the latest version of 1password'. Trying to synch to Iphone 6 with most up to date iOS and 1password mobile version 5.4.2. Sounds like the issue could be a very outdated desktop version of 1password, where is the disconnect between finding the latest greatest version?

I saw you sent product key...should I export my data to a 1password interchange file, then just delete the 1password on my machine and reinstall from scratch, using the interchange file to restore to the latest version?

I've never really used 1Password 1 for Windows before but when I went to do some testing for a particular support query recently I did find syncing was less than I expected shall we say, at least compared to 1Password 4 for Windows.
Exporting your vault in the 1Password Interchange Format (.1pif) is certainly one option but you shouldn't need to do so, at least under normal situations.
I have a couple of questions.
Do you have items in your 1Password for Windows vault that don't seem to sync to your iPhone?
If this is the case then your idea of exporting and importing may not be a bad one as we probably want to create a new .agilekeychain anyway. In this case your idea is sound and all you have to do is remember to securely delete the .1pif file afterwards. If your iPhone represents a good vault and you simply want to see that vault on your Window machine then you can skip the .1pif part. On 1Password for Mac and iOS the sync data, your .agilekeychain, is separate from the locally stored vault which is an encrypted SQLite database file. You can remove the old .agilekeychain and have your iPhone create a new one which 1Password 4 will load without issue.
If neither scenario matches your situation please do let us know and we can better advise on what we would see as the right way forward.
Just to let you know though, you can't restore a vault using a .1pif file. You can import the contents into a vault so you would need to go through the steps of creating a new vault and then importing. It's not drastically different, I just wanted to cover it in case you expected the ability to import from the opening screen.
If you have any questions relating to any of this please do ask

Sounds like the best plan is to uninstall the original 1password file and re-install Pword 4. I'll try that this weekend. I have never even once been able to synch phone and computer so my phone file is completely empty. Really nothing on the phone to 'synch', I just want to get my data onto it and make the connection to synch going forward. Thanks for the advice.

If your iOS device has nothing on it then your original idea can be used. I would say keep your existing .agilekeychain somewhere safe (but out of the way) so you still have it if necessary but then create a fresh vault, import your items and our guides on Dropbox, which it sounds you've already found, should be enough to get you up and running.
When you import a .1pif in 1Password for Windows I would personally recommend the following.
When you import a dialog window will pop up asking "Would you like to import an item named...". For this prompt you want to click Yes to All for speed.
If a second dialog pops up, asking "An item named XXX already exist. Would you like to replace this existing item?", click the No to All button. This will ensure everything that was in the old vault is in the new vault with no automated merging.
Support coverage over the weekends tends to be a little lighter but we do keep a watchful gaze over the forums even then so if you have questions give us a yell
