Hello all, I am opening this old thread because I am having the same problem as joema9010, but I don't want to change my password or delete the app. What happens when I enter the whole password (about 30 characters including spaces) is that the app shakes from left to right and the app tells me to please try again. I've tried both force quitting 1PW on multi task screen and and restarting the IPhone 6+ to no avail. When I first installed the app it worked fine, Then it didn't work for a long time and then it worked again, and now again it is not accepting my entire password. Is there anything I can do? I have to get in there.
    Thanks in advance,
    Shellie

Also, I do not use an iPad with this, I only use this with my iPhone 6+

My Master Password is not being accepted. What should I do?

Hi, thanks for replying to my message. The problem is that I have NOT forgotten my password. I KNOW my password, but my iPhone has just stopped accepting the entire password after a certain amount of characters have been entered, and then it types over the last characters entered. When I press GO or enter or whatever you tap to enter the 1password app, it just shakes and tells me to try again. When I attempted to delete the app and reinstall, it says that all my data will be erased if I delete the app, so I am afraid to delete the app the way the other man did, because I am not sure if my data is backed up or in the cloud, and I wouldn't know how to reinstall it even if it WERE in the cloud or a backup. What can I do to not lose all my data?

Hi, sorry to be such a pest, but I am very desperate here. I have done everything right and created a password that is pretty much hacker proof, as much as a password can be, but I can't help it if the app itself is malfunctioning. I NEED to get into the 1PW app desperately. I have all my important info there and I cannot get into my accounts without opening this app. Someone please help, I am in a panic. I need to pay bills, order stuff, etc. and it all happens from this app. If I cannot get in to the app I don't know what I'll do. Please help! Again, I have NOT forgotten my password, the app just won't let me enter the whole password.

I am having the exact same problem. I know what my password is, but it isn't working. I did turn on touchID prior to it "forgetting" my master password. I have hundreds of passwords in this thing and am starting to get extremely frustrated. It has worked flawlessly up until today.

Touch Id has always been on for me, I think, and this password thing happened to me once before for awhile and then for a reason I can't explain touch idea appeared again and I was able to use it until yesterday. I think it first happened in Dec. 2014. Now it's not working again, and I'm not sure the data was synced or has been saved, so deleting the app and reinstalling is not an option for me, as it says if I delete the app all my data will be lost. I don't think it's in the cloud, but I'm wondering about time machine but I don't know how to use it and I was out of the house for three months in a hotel because we had a flood, so everything was in chaos. Just moved back in 3 days ago and the app was working in the motel. I was wondering if I bought and installed the app on my IMac could they be synced together, the iPhone and and the imac app so even though I cannot open the IOS app I would be able to access it on the iMac, and then I could delete the app on the iPhone and reinstall. Just wondering. This is a nightmare. I am beside myself with anxiety. Let me know you find any solutions. I keep trying every day but to no avail.

Just wanted to let you know that I was able to get back in by restoring the previous version of my "1password.keys" file. I keep it in dropbox so it saved the previous file. It is found under 1Password.agilekeychain/data/default. Good luck.

  • Hi @pcmechanix,

Thank you for the update! I'm happy, but confused, that was the solution. I'd like to have our team do a little digging and see if they can find out why that happened, and as such hopefully help prevent it from happening to other users.

I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your iOS device:

    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/ios.html

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@agilebits.com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

A short note here with your ticket ID which our friend BitBot will email you once you've sent the Report in will help us to keep an eye out for it. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

    Ben

I do not feel qualified to help anybody but recently when I had a similar problem I was instructed to enter my very long password in the box even if it appeared to to run out of space to accept the whole thing. I did and never had that problem again. My password was something like: "Iwenttovisitmycousinbradleyinbarcelonain2011".
    Hope this helps!

    Hi Oscar ( @joema9010 ),

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts here! I'm sorry that the password field confused you a bit initially, but it's great to hear that you were able to get things sorted out. :)
