I read that LastPass server had been hacked that lead me to think that there could be a possibility that 1Password might be the next target?

Fortunately not, as 1PW uses a different approach, though there are risks.

1PW data is entirely under your control, there's no need to ever let it leave your computer if you don't want to.

Of course, many (most?) of us do sync either to Dropbox or to iCloud, and it is possible that these could be attacked and hacked.

@UnkerWill, @danco: Indeed. But while risks exist, your best protection is your Master Password. And more to the point, your 1Password data is end-to-end encrypted, so 1Password simply doesn't depend on the sync service to protect your data. I hope this helps! :)
