I just went to access 1password on my iPhone and the app is no longer there. I downloaded it again from iTunes but it says that "existing data was not found on iCloud". I thought it was automatically backed up on iCloud… ALL of my passwords and personal info are gone. How do I find out if there is a back up of my information and if so, how? Thank you!! I am very panicked right now because I don't understand how it just disappeared from my phone!

When you delete any iOS application, all of its internal data also get deleted. That applies to 1Password, just as it does to the rest. The mystery is how the application got deleted. I've accidentally deleted applications from my iOS devices, so I know from personal experience that it can happen.

To sync with iCloud from 1Password, you have to have set up that option in the Sync section of the settings for 1Password. If you did that, syncing is then automatic from then on, but not if you haven't set it up that way. It makes sense to have the user make the choice, since there are other sync options besides iCloud. And some users don't want any of their data deposited anywhere in the cloud.

It is also possible to make a backup manually to iTunes. Is there a chance you did that? If so, we can give you directions for recovering from that backup.

  • As hawkmoth mentioned if you hadn't been syncing your data but you had made an iTunes backup you can find instructions on restoring that data here:

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

    Ben
