Hello,
sure you can help me:
after starting 1Password on my iOS (iPhone 5) it asks me for my 4 digit master password (and displays the number keyboard).
I am 100% sure i enter the correct password, but it still says "wrong PIN".
Then, the other login screen is dosplayed (and the standard keyboard is shown. I swith to the numbers and enter the same PIN again and then it opens my database.
I already tried to change the PIN (to the same) but without any change of the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Hi @Albsucher,

Please note that the Master Password and PIN are not (and should not be set to be) the same thing. The PIN is a 4-digit code used to quickly unlock the vault, whereas the Master Password should be much stronger (see this article) and is used to encrypt your data.

You can change the PIN or Master Password in the 1Password > Settings > Security pane.

    Thanks!

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

thanks for this hint which was the clue. I mixed up the master password and PIN.
Sometimes things are so simple but you do not think of ;-)
I now set a digit PIN but a strong master password as you suggested.

Thanks very much for the help.
