When I sync my iOS devices do I purchase the app for each? I plan on using Dropbox for sync.

Thanks in advance
Luis

    Hi @caring52,

1Password for iOS is like 1Password for our other platforms. There is the initial purchase for that platform, which is independent of the others but that entitles you to run 1Password on as many devices as you own of that type.

This is true for all iOS apps, or at least as far as my experiences anyway. Now with 1Password for iOS you can download the basic version for free and some functionality is behind the in-app purchase. Now the in-app purchase is a one-off event and once down it applies to every iOS device that uses the same Apple ID. That bit is purely because of how Apple's system works.

So you should be able to download and try 1Password for iOS without any purchase. You may find the basic functionality is all that is needed or you may find you desire the features contained in our in-app purchase but that isn't a decision you have to make straight away.

Should you have any follow up questions please don't hesitate to ask

If I have two sets of iOS devices ie iphone & iPad with different apple IDs can the two phones, two pads & the Mac be in sync or does each Apple ID need its own 1p etc. One additional twist - if the Mac has two users (separate login etc) does each user need their own 1p? I ask because my wife and I would need one "vault" to share & sync across all our devices. These are all Apple products.

If we get this all set up and want to access our vault from a PC how would that work?

    I hope this makes sense.

    Hi,

By utilizing Dropbox yes you can sync your vault between all of those devices. Install 1Password on a chosen first device, create your vault as a new user, and sync it with Dropbox. Next install 1Password on the other iOS devices/Mac computer(s) as an existing user and sync each of those with Dropbox to retrieve a copy of your existing vault. As far as using a Windows PC, 1Password for Windows is available for purchase from AgileBits online store here. Since you're not using iCloud for your syncing, you may want to consider purchasing the 1Password Mac + Windows Bundle.

Thanks that's very helpful. I am wondering, if I don't want to buy the Mac PC bundle because I rarely use a PC can I use my phone to get the passwords? For example I'm at a friends house and I want to get something from Amazon, can I log in on the PC and use my iPhone to retrieve my password?

@caring52: I'm not sure if this is exactly what you have in mind, but yes it can be handy to just pull up your login information up on the phone. But you will not be able to access the vault stored on the phone directly on the PC itself without 1Password.

However, if you store your vault in Dropbox, you may be able to access it in the browser on the PC through the Dropbox website using 1PasswordAnywhere. I hope this helps! :)

Yes, you could click Reveal on your iPhone to see your Amazon password which you could then enter into Amazon.com using your friend's computer.

  • Thanks for the assist, @JWeaver. :) @caring52, If there is anything else we can do, please don't hesitate to contact us.
