Can't unlock [1Password touch v3]

Some problems with 1Password on my iOS devices. Maybe just look at one at a time. My oldest phone is iPhone 4 version 7.1.2. The 1Password version on this phone I don't know. From the very beginning it's never worked. When you go to open it it asks for a four digit passcode. Everyone told me it's supposed to be the same as the 4 digit code I use to access the phone itself. 1Password will not accept it.
FYI my Mac is Version 10.10.4. Safari is 8.0.7 (10600.7.2). 1Password is 3.8.22 (build 32010). Sure would appreciate some help!Best regards,

Hi @TopGun99,
It sounds like you're running 1Password for iPhone to me AKA 1Password 3 for iOS. The easiest way to confirm that is the following screenshot, does it look like this?
If it does we're definitely dealing with 1Password for iPhone.
Now the code it is asking for is set independently from the simple passcode for iOS. That isn't to say you can't set it to the same but it doesn't pick to up from there.
Now if you don't know the code and if you feel confident that there is nothing important in the vault on this device then we could reset it and show you how to copy the vault on your Mac to the iOS device. The reseting will wipe the iOS vault though so if you have anything you know is only stored in here that would be a bad move.
Let us know if you're happy with the idea of essentially starting over again on the iOS device and we'll show you how

Yes. That's exactly what it looks like. I do not know if there's anything in that particular phone (iPhone 4) because I'ver never been able to open it or do anything with it unless cloud moved info in there, but i doubt that because I've got to provide permission for both devices to do that. In short, yes I'm comfortable starting from the ground floor. The Red Chinese won't find anything will they?
Just so I don't surprise you with anything I have three other iOS devices (aside from the iPhone 4 being discussed. One is an old 1st generation iPad that's working fine with its 1Password. The other two are an iPhone 6 Plus and an iPad Air 2 with which I'm also having some difficulty getting going. I may have purchase more product but can deal with that later.

@TopGun99: Thanks for clarifying! I hope you don't mind, but I've moved this discussion to the iOS category of the forums, as it sounds like we'll be working on getting things working there in 1Password 3 and probably 5.
Indeed, AgileBits has neither your 1Password data nor the Master Password used to secure it, so this isn't something we can 'reset' for you to help directly. And if you can't get in, neither can the Red Chinese, so long as you don't hand over your device for them to brute force that old version of iOS. However, please try the tips in this guide if you want to try to gain access again:
https://support.1password.com/master-password-not-accepted/
If that doesn't help though, you will need to either restore from a backup, sync from another device, or simply start over.
Regarding the newer devices, if you're running iOS 8 (and you should be!) 1Password 5 is a free app, with an in-app purchase for Pro Features.
Please let me know where you're at and I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have about setting everything up. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)

Hi Megan and Brenty,
I'm working on my old iPhone 4 at the moment. I just decided over. I've got iOS Version 7.1.2 . I'm running 1Password 4.5.3. And I've created a new vault and have created a security code for it. Not quite sure where to go from here. Looks like I should just sync it from my Mac. How am I doing so far?

Hi @TopGun99 ,
Looks like you've got a pretty good start there! In order to get your existing data from your Mac onto this iOS device, you'll want to ensure that 1Password 3 for Mac is set up to use Dropbox sync.
Then you can set up Dropbox sync on your iOS device.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this process. :)

Hi Megan,
Hit the Dropbox sync link in your message and got a blank page. Restarted my computer, tried to access on other devices and got the same result. I already have 1Password working fine on my Mac so went to opened 1Password on iPhone 4, hit Primary Vault, hit Sync with Dropbox, found the 1Password being used on my Mac: 1Password.agilekeychain. This vault appeared in the Choose A Vault field on my iPhone. I tapped it and got a Vault Mismatch. There was a warning to not merge because data wasn't the same. I thought it naturally wouldn't be the same because one vault was full and the other was empty so I did it anyway. Everything seems to be in there (my iPhone) far as i can tell.1)
I laid all that out because I ignored the warning. Just wanted to check to make sure I haven't screwed something up.2)
My bank is RBC (Royal Bank). 1Password will take me to the website because that's what it does. When using iOS it won't take me to the App. I would have to get to the App myself and I would have to copy and paste passwords.3)
I'm missing something here because this 1Password doesn't automatically fill the fields. I will need to set up further to get that, am I right?Very much appreciate your assistance.
Best regards,

Forget Point 3. Have to hit that 'key symbol' at the bottom and bam!, it goes.

@TopGun99: Sorry for the confusion! Indeed, 1Password doesn't 'autofill', since then you might have sensitive information being dumped into a web page when you don't want to. Instead, 1Password will only fill when and where you tell it to.
And while 1Password has an iOS extension, we obviously can't force 3rd party app developers (such as RBC) to add support for it in their apps. But feel free to let them know that you'd like them to support 1Password to help you and the rest of their customers use more secure passwords. And you can point them to our 1Password extension for developers page for everything they need to make it happen!
It sounds like you've got everything set up correctly and you should be all set, but be sure to let us know if you have any questions. We're always here to help! :)

Thanks Brenty,
You and Megan have been very helpful. Just wanted to clarify. Was my reasoning correct regarding the Vault Mismatch notice warning about the info in the two vaults being different and advising me not to merge their info. How could it not be different? If not different there would be no reason to sync, would there? What exactly is the concern about info being different in the 2 vaults?
Best regards,

Hi @TopGun99 ,
My apologies for the broken link! We've migrated a few of our docs and it appears I had an old link saved there.
Was my reasoning correct regarding the Vault Mismatch notice warning about the info in the two vaults being different and advising me not to merge their info.
If you set up an empty vault in 1Password for iOS and then asked 1Password to sync your existing Mac data into this vault, then yes, merging those vaults despite the warning is fine.
What exactly is the concern about info being different in the 2 vaults?
With 1Password's Multiple Vaults feature, there is a potential for users to have several different .agilekeychain files stored in Dropbox. When setting up sync, we want to be sure that the correct .agilekeychain file is synced, or the content of two vaults might get mixed up together. If we were talking about personal data being merged into a team vault, well, you can see how that is undesirable. :)
Does this answer your question?

Yep, it does. If I had a bunch of vaults with stuff in them you could get them all mixed up. I had only one vault that was empty and needed filling so there's nothing to mix up. Anything is good when you've got nothing! I have something now, all my devices are 1Password protected!
I would like to thank you, Megan, Brenty and littlebobbytables for being so helpful and putting up with my silliness. Must be a gift. My real name is Dick ( hopefully a name not a description!) and I'll be reccomending 1Password's technology and customer service. You can bet on that.
Best regards,

You are most welcome! There's nothing silly about it. We've all been in the same boat, I think.
I'm glad we were able to help. Thanks so much for the kind words! It means a lot to hear when we've been able to make a difference for you or any of our awesome customers. Be sure to reach out if you need anything else. We're here for you! :)
