Error Code 7008 Wifi sync failed [network connection timeout]
Hi,
I just got a new iphone 6 and have been trying (unsuccessfully) to sync (via wifi) ios with my 1 password vault on my mac. I disconnected the ethernet I usually use and set-up a wifi network and now both my computer and my phone are connected to the same wifi network. I have the 1password wifi sync window open on my mac and I've entered the secret code into 1Password on my iphone but I keep getting the following error:
"Domain=com.agilebits.onepassword.ErrorDomain Code=7008 'Sync Failed: There was a delay in syncing of 5 minutes that exceeded the maximum of 5 minutes'"
Please help.... this is so frustrating.
Heather
1Password Version: 4.4.3

@hkrimsly: Sorry for the trouble! It is important to remember that there is a lot that can go wrong with Wi-Fi in general. More significantly, if Bonjour traffic is being blocked your devices won't be able to communicate with each other, which is where you end up with the timeout you described: they just get sick of waiting!
I know you've probably tried some of these steps already, but I want to make sure that we account for every point of failure here. Please try the following:
- Reset device Wi-Fi (both devices)
- Restart OS (both devices)
- Soft-reset router (if possible)
- Hard-reset router
- Reset sync settings (both devices)
- Forget the Wi-Fi network and reconnect
- Disable software firewall
- Disable security software
- If security or firewall software turns out to be the issue, turning it back on and setting an exception for the traffic may work, provided that is an option.*
*You'll need to open UDP port 5353 for both outbound and inbound traffic, which is the port that Bonjour (Apple's zeroconfig implementation) uses for connecting available services on the network.
Keep in mind that you may need to set this up in your router as well if it is blocking traffic, but generally that won't be the case.
You can also set up an ad-hoc connection to eliminate the router as the problem:How to create an ad-hoc wireless network
And finally, if your Wi-Fi setup is simply not conducive to syncing, you can always use Dropbox Sync instead, which tends to work better since they handle all the heavy lifting, rather than depending on your network configuration. Please let me know what you find. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)

Hello @brenty,
We followed the instructions you gave for both the WiFi using the router as well as WiFi using an ad-hoc network. We still are getting the same error. We do not have the firewall enabled for OS X. We are using 1Password 4.4.3 with OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks) on the desktop, and 1Password 5.4.3 on an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.4.
I'm wondering if there is an incompatibility between 1Password 5.4.3 in iOS and 1Password 4.4.3 on OS X. Do you think it would help to upgrade OS X to Yosemite and then upgrade 1Password for OS X to version 5? Or, are there any other trouble-shooting steps we can try? We would prefer to sync through WiFi rather than using DropBox or iCloud, if possible.
Thanks for your help,

Hi Heather ( @hkrimsly ),
I'm really sorry for the continued trouble. Unfortunately I can't say for certain that upgrading to the latest version of everything would make this problem go away. While I'd recommend doing that anyway, we may still have the same problem.
I'd like to ask you to create some Diagnostics Reports, one from each of your devices.
—Mac—
https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/mac.html—iOS—
https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/ios.htmlAttach the Diagnostics Report to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report and ensure that it is dealt with quickly. :)
Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks very much!
Thanks!
Ben

I'm wondering if there is an incompatibility between 1Password 5.4.3 in iOS and 1Password 4.4.3 on OS X.
@hkrimsly: Not at all. 1Password 5 uses the same Wi-Fi Sync method as 1Password 4, however...
Do you think it would help to upgrade OS X to Yosemite and then upgrade 1Password for OS X to version 5?
This may help, since we've made plenty of improvements to Wi-Fi Sync in 1Password 5...but ultimately this is likely a software or hardware issue. While the OS X firewall may not be running, do you have other security software that may be blocking traffic? Not being able to sync even using an ad-hoc connection points to this. If you think of anything, be sure to pass it along when you send your diagnostics via email. :)

Dear agilebits,
I have an ipad and iphone laid next to each other on the same desk as my imac and they have been previously set-up to sync with the imac 1 password application. All 3 devices are on the same wifi network. I open the 1 password application on each of my ipad and iphone and I log into both as well as my imac 1 password application. I run sync on my ipad and it syncs successfully via wifi but when I try to run the sync on the iphone it gives me the code 7008 error message (it pops up immediately). Please advise how I'm supposed to resolve this.0 -
Hi, still the same outcome i.e. error message code 7008. Please advise alternative solution.

@jtran: Unfortunately, as MrRooni indicated, without some basic information it's hard to say what might be going wrong and how we might right it! Please tell me all OS, 1Password, and device versions you're using, the exact steps you're taking, and what is (or is not) happening the way you expect so we can figure out the best plan of action.
The more information you can give, the better. For instance, are you receiving the exact same error on both the iPad and iPhone? If so, that indicates a communication issue, likely with your network environment. 1Password is trying to transmit but is unable to do so. If that's the case, please try the troubleshooting steps I outlined above, as they will help narrow down the problem. Thanks in advance! :)

iphone: ios9.0, 1 password 6.0
ipad: ios9.0, 1 password 6.0
imac: Yosemite 10.10.5, 1 password 5.3.2I followed the normal steps to sync via wifi on both the ipad and iphone and to the imac. As I mentioned previously, the ipad worked and the iphone did not, showing the error message code 7008.

@jtran: Please follow the steps in my previous post. If you're able to sync the iMac and iPad, we know what 1Password Wi-Fi Sync is functioning...but something only between the iPhone and iMac is going wrong, some sort of software or hardware glitch there.
If you're still having trouble, could you provide a screenshot of 1Password Settings > Sync > Sync Service? It may be that the app is damaged on your iPhone. If you have all of your 1Password data on your Mac and/or iPad though, it may be simplest to delete and then reinstall a fresh copy of 1Password from the App Store on your iPhone. Please let me know how it turns out! :)
