Can I harmonise two different versions on 1 Password from 2 different iTunes accounts

I have two different versions of 1Password, Password Pro (originally3.72) and 1Password for IOS (Version 5.4.3) with pro features enabled BUT both on different iTunes accounts (don't ask!) I want to harmonise them without incurring extra cost if possible, since every time I have an issue with new phones or failed hard disk it gets complicated?

1Password Version: 5.4.3
Extension Version: 4.4.1
OS Version: OS X 10.10.4 Yosemite
Sync Type: iCloud

  • Hi @tdavey,

I'd be happy to help you with that.

Both versions are installed on the same device? And the goal is to get the data from v3 into v5? Do you also have 1Password on your Mac?

    Please let me know. :)

Hi Ben, my main objective is to move my 1Password "account" to my current iTunes account, so it was a over 12 months ago I must have upgraded to a newer version of 1Password on what was my business ipdad/iPhone. That was a mistake as I no longer use that iTunes account and so whenever I change phones or perform an App backup it asks me for the sign on information for the now unused apple account. I know Apple never deletes old iTunes accounts but I want to migrate my account if possible to my home account as I no longer require a business account. The data is safe and the program itself is working perfectly but for future upgrading etc. I want my 1password details to be linked to my most current Apple account. May be impossible and the only alternative might be to buy another version on my new current account but after several years using this I would rather not pay again! I hope you can understand such a rambling story....
    Thanks for listening
    Tom

The thing is that this is an Apple issue, and AgileBits can't do anything about it. Indeed, they don't even have details of your purchase.

You will have to ask Apple, and I fear that they will not be helpful on this.

@tdavy - it's important to answer @bwoodruff's question about whether you have 1Passowrd on a desktop machine. If you do, I think it should be easy to combine your data into one vault. It will take a few steps, but it isn't hard to do.

If you don't have 1Password on a desktop machine, do you at least have access to one?

I can confirm from my experience that Apple will not merge two AppleID accounts or transfer licenses between them, even though they are both owned by the same individual. I've even had an Apple support person wish they would do that too, but they won't.

  • Hi @tdavy,

As danco and hawkmoth have mentioned unfortunately Apple doesn't even let app developers view purchase details let alone change them. We don't have any control over Apple IDs or what apps are associated with them, and my understanding is the same as hawkmoth's: Apple is unwilling to move apps from one ID to another.

Sorry I don't have better news on that front.

Guys, many thanks for the advice and you are all correct, it is an Apple issue and no they won't combine two accounts, so my only option is to change the email address and password of my old business Apple ID so only I can access it and continue to have to sign in to another Apple Account just to update 1Password when the occasion requires it. Not the end of the world just a bit inconvenient. Thanks again, Tom

  • You're very welcome, Tom ( @tdavey )! Sorry there isn't currently an easier way.
